Delores Clayton Coulter of Rising Sun died September 12, 2014, at Season Hospice at Christiana Hospital. She was 83. Born in North East on December 22, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Marshall W. and Martha Meekins Purner. She was a loving wife and mother, whose life exemplified her faith in God. She had a special connection with children including her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and children in the community. She was a Sunday school teacher, tutor, and writer of children's books and poems. Mrs. Coulter is survived by her husband of 65 years, Henry Boyd Coulter, Sr. of Rising Sun; a son, Henry Boyd Coulter, Jr. and his wife Marisol Alvarez Hevia of Gijon, Spain; three daughters, Eileen Ondra and her husband Dana of North East, Grace Renn and her husband Robert of Newark, Del., and Jean Calcut of Lancaster, Pa.; 12 Grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother Lloyd Purner and her sister Ruth Simpson.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Allen, Jeff, and Joshua Clayton Purner; and two sisters, Genevieve Patchell and Ellen Cantler. Services will be held at Newark Baptist Church, 6011 Telegraph Road, Elkton, MD 21921 on Wednesday September 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. with a visitation at the church beginning at 10. Burial will follow in West Nottingham Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) and mailed to R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 S.
