Elizabeth Kathryn Armstrong Wood of Perryville died Thursday, April 28, 2016. She was 78. Born in Kilsyth, W.Va., on August 16, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Creel Helton Armstrong Willen (Ray). Mrs. Wood retired after 31 years of service at Aberdeen Proving Ground, working as a chemical safety specialist. She was an active member of Perryville United Methodist Church, the Ladies Golf League of Edgewood, her bridge club, and the Red Hat Society. When her daughters were school-aged, she consistently served in their Parent Teacher Associations, holding various offices. Helen Gladys Hypes of Elkton died at home Wednesday, April 27, 2016. She was 94. She was born in Newhall, W.Va., on July 7, 1921. Mrs. Hypes was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family, watching birds and listening to gospel music. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon McMillan (Arthur) of Elkton, Vina Bright (Harry) of Townsend, Del. and one son, Bernard C. Hypes, Jr. of Elkton; her grandchildren, Arthur McMillan, Jr., Valerie McMillan, Crystal Rau, David Bright, Aaron Bright, Budd Hypes; and 18 great grandchildren. Saythell “Sally” Propst Williamson, 83 of North East, MD, died Thursday, April 28, 2016 at home.
Born in Mecklenburg County, VA, on October 16, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William Terrell and the late Della (Jennings) Propst. She was the wife of Harry W. Williamson who passed away on January 18, 2007. Mrs. Williamson was a Clerk, employed at the Anchorage, Elkton, MD. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church, Elkton, MD. She loved spending time with her family. Matthew Glenn Kolsun, 59 of North East, MD, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in the Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, Newark, DE. He was born in Camden, NJ, on December 13, 1956. Matt worked as a clerk at Marty and Barb’s in Clayton, NJ. Uncle Matt, as he was loving known by his family, enjoyed sports and boating. Jennifer Lynn Brown, 46 of North East, MD, died suddenly Sunday, April 24, 2016 at home.
Born in MD, on October 11, 1969, she was the daughter of the late Linda Darlene Janes. Ann Marie Wilson, 78 of North East, MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at home. A lifelong resident of North East, she was born on May 31, 1937, the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Gorrell) Biddle. Ann was the wife of the late Clifton L. Wilson, Sr. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Laurelwood Care Center, Elkton, MD as a Nursing Assistant. Ann enjoyed playing bingo and putting puzzles together. Most of all she loved her family and enjoyed the time spent with all of them. Ivy Frances Cantler, age 91, resident of North East, MD for 70 years, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 following a brief illness. Born in Yately, England on April 4, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Elisabeth Hudson. She was a Veteran of World War II where she served in the Royal British Navy. While in the service, she met and married her late husband of 59 years, Roy E. Cantler. At the conclusion of the war, she relocated to the United States and became a United States Citizen. She worked for Cecil County Public Schools Food Services, retiring in June, 1988. For years, she was an avid gardener, growing bushels of tomatoes and a variety of vegetables, that she and her husband enjoyed sharing with family and friends. She enjoyed boating, fishing, working in her yard and spending time with family and friends. George C. Reynolds, Jr. of Fallston died at home on Friday, April 22, 2016. He was 91. He was the son of George C. Reynolds, Sr. and Pauline (Craig) Reynolds of North East. Mr. Reynolds was drafted into the Army at the age of 18. He served from May 1943 to January 1946 with the 534th Amphibious Armored Infantry Battalion in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He retired from the Budd Company in Troy, Michigan, in 1984 after 33 years. Following his retirement, he enjoyed playing golf, traveling, woodworking and spending time with his family. Robert L. Bour Sr. of North East died at Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del., on Monday, April 18, 2016. He was 89. Mr. Bour was born in Wilkinsburg, Pa., a son of the late John and Velma N. Yeager bour. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war ended, he completed his enlistment with the Army's Alaska Communications System. Mr. Bour worked as a civil engineer for the federal Department of Agriculture until he retired. He was a graduate of Penn State University. Mr. Bour enjoyed painting. He was also a master tinkerer who enjoyed making many interesting things. James Ellsworth "Jimmy" Russell, Jr. of North East died at home Tuesday, April 19, 2016. He was 57. A lifelong resident of Cecil County, he was born in Elkton on August 29, 1958. Mr. Russell worked as an excavator operator for First Choice Foundations, Elkton. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys. |
