Frank Albert Simko, III, of North East died at home Thursday, February 25, 2016. He was 66.
He was born in Ohio on September 19, 1949 Mr. Simko was the owner/operator of ASTI, Inc., New Castle, Del. He was a past president of the Wilmington Jaycees and enjoyed motorcycles and cars. Ellener Elaine Harvey of North East died February 26, 2016 at Top of the Hill Manor in Street. She was 94.
Born in Steelton, Pa. on November 1, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ethel (Dailey) Foster and sister to seven siblings that preceded her in death. Mrs. Harvey was a graduate of the Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. Upon completion she was employed by the Harrisburg Hospital, Bethlehem Steel, and the Harrisburg Psychiatric State Hospital. John M. Gray of Perryville died Saturday, February 27, 2016 in the Lorien Nursing Home, Riverside. He was 76.
Born in Mount Vernon, Texas, on May 4, 1939, he was the son of Aubrey Lee and Lytha Lou (Bryant) Gray. He was a computer teacher at Cecil Community College. Betty M. Dugan, age 83 of Rising Sun, Maryland passed away February 27, 2016. Born on June 4, 1932 in Elkton, Maryland, she was the daughter to the late Otis R. Monger and Ethel M. (Hanna) Monger. She was a 1949 graduate of Rising Sun High School and later attended Goldey Beacom College. She worked as a drive thru teller at the National Bank of Rising Sun and was a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Many knew Betty as a constant nurturer and she shared unconditional love to all. She was known for her ease in frequent conversations even with total strangers. Her door was always open and all were welcome. Betty had a great sense of humor and was an exceptional cook. She was a beast at Chinese checkers and was a mail order queen. Later in life, her favorite thing was to play card games on her iPad. She adored her grandchildren and saw them as her pride and joy. Nestor Samuel Kline of Port Deposit died at home Saturday, February 20, 2016.. He was 89.
Born March 29, 1926 in McClure, Pa., he was the son of the late Henry E. and Margaretta L. Wright Kline. Mr. Kline came to Maryland in 1950 from McClure. He worked for Mason Dixon Sand and Gravel until he went to work for Dick McDaniel’s Sand and Gravel. Then he worked for York Building Stewart Associates. He became superintendent for the Belvidere Plant on Belvidere Road until he retired in 1991. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II. Rev. Norma O. Bailey of Elkton died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in Abbey Manor Assisted Living, Elkton. She was 76. Rev. Bailey was the middle daughter of Robert O. Bailey and Gladys May Bailey (nee Harvey). Rev. Bailey was a 1957 Graduate of North East High School and graduated from Gordon College in Beverly Farms, Mass. with a BA degree and received her Master’s Degree at Kings College in New York State. Pastor Bailey received her Divinity degree from Wesley Seminary in Washington, D.C. She served as a student minister at St. Johns United Methodist Church in Charlestown, and at Hart’s United Methodist Church in Elk Neck. She was appointed to the Christ United Methodist Church in Salisbury where she served for over 17 years until her retirement. She then moved back to Cecil County, where she had a home in Cecil Woods; she was a resident of Abbey Manor Assisted Living for the past several years. Robert “Robbie” Ernest Turner of Port Deposit died Monday, February 8, 2016 in Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton. He was 63. Born August 24, 1952 in Chester, Pa., he was the son of Alice M. Reynolds Miller of Port Deposit, and the late Robert J. Turner. Mr. Turner was a member of Tome Memorial United Methodist Church of Port Deposit. For 30 years he was employed as an electrician by Isaac Watkins, Inc., of Delaware. Mr. Turner loved making birdhouses and working in the yard. Bernard Russell Cundiff, Jr. of Rising Sun died Sunday, February 14, 2016. he was 76.
He was born on November 25, 1939 in Bedford, Va. to the late Bernard Russell, Sr. and Gaynelle (Fulton) Cundiff. He was a truck driver, delivering gas for Sunoco for many years until his retirement. Mr. Cundiff served as member of the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun, where he was a life member. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post 194. Richard Roland Clark Sr. died Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in Sumter County, Fla. He was 83. He was the son of the late John J Clark and late Ethel Shallcross. Mr. Clark grew up on a family farm in North East, MD, and also resided in Rising Sun, MD, and Wildwood, FL. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Clark; they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in Oct 2015. Survivors include, son, Richard Clark Jr. (Charlene) of Rising Sun, MD; daughters, Bonnie Harris (Ken) of Mechanicsville, MD; Brenda Mobley (Mike) of Elkton, MD; Robin Albright (Robert) of Elkton, MD; 9 grandchildren, Andrew, Nathen, Jeffery, Jenna, Ben, Jessica, Michael, Shawn, Kayla and 2 great grandsons Franklin and Marshall. He is also survived by his sister, Margret C. Creamer of Burnham, PA. Richard was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Christian Clark. Raymond Hunter Powers of Rising Sun died at home Friday, February 12, 2016. He was 93.
Born in Tuckerdale, N.C.,, he was the son of the late George and Myrtle Powers. He was a maintenance worker at General Motors In Newark, Del., for 14 years, retiring in 1985 Mr. Powers was a Jack-of-all-trades. He could always be found working on cars or fixing something around the house. He was lovingly dubbed the family “energizer bunny”. For any job to be tackled, he would be unstoppable until it was finished. |
