William Stewart Rakes of Sharptown died Sunday, June 22, 2014 in Salisbury. He was 75. He was formerly employed by Chrysler Corporation of Newark, Del., as a yardman. Mr. Rakes was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Jerry Skrivanek V.F.W. Post No. 8185 of Port Deposit. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Elizabeth Sullivan Rakes of Sharpton; sons, George Henderson of Colora, Gene Rakes of Elkton, Buddy Rakes, Darrell Rakes, Richard Rakes, Allen Rakes; daughters, Maria Gonce of Perryville, Tonya Ditchfield of Charlestown, Connie Cooper of Aberdeen, Sandy Wilson of Havre de Grace; 26 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a sister, Helen Saunders.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Danny Rakes and sister, Dottie Nicholes. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, June 26, 2014, 11 a.m., at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014, 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Pastor Michael A. Caldwell of Asbury United Methodist Church, Port Deposit, will officiate. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery, Port Deposit. Comments are closed.
