Steven White of Elkton died Thursday, July 30, 2015, in the University of Maryland Center, Baltimore. He was 40.
He was born in Upland, Pa., on July 23, 1975. Mr. White was a truck driver for Bob’s Discount Furniture. He enjoyed motorcycles. Most of all he loved his children and the time he spent with them. Jennie M. DeForest of Rising Sun died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, in the Calvert Manor Healthcare Center. She was 91.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., on December 25, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Demetrius and the late Anna (Siedlatska) Koenig. Funeral service will be held Monday, August 3, at 11 a.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, where the family will receive guests beginning at 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, Pa. Con Shanahan of Elkton died Monday, July 27, 2015. He was 68.
Born in Wilmington, Del. on May 22, 1947, he was son of the late Cornelius F. Ethel Lundberg Shanahan. Owner of Master Plumbers, Elkton, since 1971, Mr. Shanahan had built and owned Cherry Hill Plaza. He had served on the plumbing boards for both cecil County and the State of Maryland. Grand Master Buford “Bunky” Clayton Herbert of Havre de Grace died on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 in Gilchrest Hospice of Towson. Born November 15, 1947 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Helena Ernestine Hall Adams and Roy Herbert. Bunky is survived by his children, Teresa Lyn Herbert and Dallas Morgan Herbert; grandson, Jesse James Herbert; and sister, Barbara Jean Deal. From an early age, Bunky showed a distinct level or determination, causing people to refer to him as “indomitable”. He earned his 8th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, was a two time Eastern National Welterweight Kickboxing champion, was awarded a lifetime achievement award and was inducted into the Blue Dragon’s Black Belt Hall of Fame. Bucky also served as a judge for Olympic Tae Kwon Do tournaments. His children remember him as a driven, brilliant man, and an inspiring role model who always brought a smile to others. LTC Joseph Carl Bruncsak, (Ret.) of Elkton died Tuesday, July 28, 2015. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his sister, Joyce, of Pa.; four children, Joe and his wife Karyn, Corey and his wife Kelley, Sybil, Jonathan and his wife Ashley; and three grandchildren, Taylor, Riley and Max. He was preceded in death by his wife, Paula Bruncsak, who died five years ago. Evelyn Pierce "Boots" Sharpless of Perryville died at home Saturday, July 25, 2015. She was 84.
Born August 12, 1930 in Liberty Grove, she was the daughter of the late George Luther and Lora Eveanna Abrams Pierce. Mrs. Sharpless was formerly employed as a bookkeeper by the Harrington Body Shop, Rising Sun, for several years. Eileen Fanny Burlin Marrs of Conowingo died Wednesday, July 22, 2015, in Havre de Grace. She was 86.
Born November 17, 1928 in Port Deposit, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Melrose and Lillian L. Irwin Burlin. Mrs. Marrs was formerly employed as a nurse by the V.A. Medical Center of Perry Point. George E. McCreary of Calvert died at home Friday, July 24, 2015. He was 91.
Born in Avon Grove, Pa., on August 14, 1923, he was the son of the late George C. and the late Sarah Jane (Pennock) McCreary. Mr. McCreary served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant, working as an aircraft mechanic for B17 and B24 bombers. After he returned from service, he worked hard to establish the family farm. He also worked at Chrysler Corp., retiring after many years of service. Francis A. “Luke” Edwards of North East died at home Wednesday, July 22, 2015. He was 74.
A lifelong resident of Cecil County, he was born in Elkton on March 5, 1941, the son of the late Porter J. Edwards and the late Jane (Armour) Sutton. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Edwards retired from George & Lynch Construction. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and watching the Orioles and the Ravens play. He was a member of the North East VFW Post 6027. Danis Lee Jones, 98, of Rising Sun, MD, formerly of Oxford, PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun, MD.
She was the wife of the late William Lonnie Jones. Born in West Jefferson, NC she was the daughter of the late Jesse Abner and Minnie Jane Johnson Severt. She was a member of Kennett Square Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Annabelle Prewitt and her husband, Richard of Oxford, Georgia Mayhorn and her husband, Jack of Newark, DE, and Joyce Frampton and her husband, Richard of Oxford; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; five sisters, Jessie Absher of Laurel Springs, NC, Betty Ball and Leafie McNeil both of West Jefferson, NC, Kay Brooks of Lumberton, NC and Marsha Teaster of Grassy Creek, NC; and two brothers, Jack Severt of West Jefferson, NC and Ray Severt of MI. |
