James Walker Morgan, 71, of Rising Sun, MD went home to our Lord Monday, September 29, 2014. Born December 3, 1942 in Buchanan, VA, James was the son of the late Troy and Nellie (Ball) Morgan. James retired from his 17 year career with Peco in 1994. He enjoyed fishing, bluegrass festivals, camping, working in the yard, helping his family and friends, and visiting his childhood home in Honaker, VA. James was a devoted family man. His most cherished time was spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charles Z. Ward, of Rising Sun, passed away on September 19, 2014. He was 64.
Mr. Ward was born in Nine Points, Pa., son of the late James H. and Mary Cook Ward. Roy Harvey Watson, Jr. of Perryville, died Sunday, September 28, 2014 in Franklin Square Hospital, Baltimore. He was 24.
Harriet Rogers Durgin, 93, of Rising Sun, MD passed away peacefully Friday, September 26, 2014. Born November 22, 1920 in Wilmington, DE, Harriet was the daughter of the late Cecil D. Rogers and Lilla V. Bethards. Harriet graduated from P.S. DuPont High School in 1938 and from Goldey Business School in 1940, both are located in Wilmington, DE. She worked at DuPont in Wilmington after graduation and during WWII. She later retired from the Perry Point Veterans Hospital after 20 years as a medical secretary. After retirement, Harriet was a watercolor and oil artist. She was also an avid quilter. Harriet had resided on the family farm near Rising Sun, MD since 1959. Daniel Paul Bolt, III of Colora died at home Friday, September 26, 2014. He was 56.
Born March 2, 1958 in Elkton, he was the son of Daniel Paul Bolt, II, of North East, and the late Helen Dean Bolt. Mr. Bolt was associated with Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church of Colora, and was a self-employed contractor. He was also an active member of the Elks Lodge of Elkton. Shirley Mars Brown of Port Deposit died Thursday, September 25, 2014 in the Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, Newark, Del. She was 62. Born in Elkton on May 24, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Charles William and the late Irene Mary (Collins) Mars. Mrs. Brown worked for Data Management Concepts doing data entry and previously at the Flying J in North East as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children: Jennifer Sells of Elkton, Michael Brown of Port Deposit; siblings: John W. Mars of Lake Orchard, MI, George L. Mars and Charles A. Mars of North East, Phyllis A. Meadows of Newark, Del.; and her four grandchildren, Paige, Kimberlyn, Noah and Tyler. Wesley Edward Wade, Jr. of Newark, Del., died Thursday, September 25, 2014, in the Heartland Hospice House, Wilmington, Del. He was 53.
He was born in Chelsea, Mass., in the Naval Hospital on February 3, 1961. Mr. Wade was a machine operator, employed by Bank of America. He enjoyed golf, bowling, music and drawing. Christine Juanita Powell died Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington, Del. She was 51.
She was born in Chestertown on September 26, 1962, to James Medford and Frances A. (Green) Powell. Marie Elena Ragan of Rising Sun died September 24, 2014 at Christiana Hospital. She was 73. Born in Lancaster County, Pa. on June 1, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Veryl Raymond and Ella Mae Duff Barr. She was a graduate of Solanco High School and recently retired from Delaware Cadillac where she worked as an administrative assistant. She loved people and enjoyed talking to everyone. She was a Jeff Gordon NASCAR fan. She enjoyed shopping and cheering for the Baltimore Orioles. She most enjoyed taking walks hand in hand with her husband. Kathleen Pender Lockhart, born September 7, 1928 in Havre de Grace, MD, Passed in her home on September 24, 2014. She was 86.
