Shirley Ilene Eldreth of North East died Saturday, June 27, 2015, in the Laurelwood Nursing and Rehabilitation, Elkton. She was 78. Born in Clifton, N.C., on April 25, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Park Miller and the late Rose Richardson Ashley. After the death of her mother, she was raised by her grandparents, the late Joseph M. and MayBelle Gilley Richardson. She was a resident of Cecil County for over 60 years. She worked for Triumph Explosives, RMR and Lass Sewing. She enjoyed reading, loved to cook, bake, canning, crossword puzzles, flowers, gardening and watching TV., especially the Price is Right. Richard Lee Poole of North East died at home Friday, June 19, 2015. He was 67.
Born in Akron, Ohio, on April 22, 1948, he was the son of the late Lorin Kenneth and Eleanor Ovitta (Baker) Poole. He retired from the University of Delaware, where he last worked in the printing department. Mr. Poole was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 131 for many years. He was an avid motorcycle rider and hunter. Richard Oscar "Dick" Ewing, Sr. died at home Saturday, June 20, 2015. He was 90.
Born in Bel Air, he was the son of the late William O. & Julia (Gray) Ewing. Mr. Ewing was a heavy equipment operator first having worked for over 42 years for Stancill's Inc. full-, then part-time as well as over 33 years at Edgewood Area and APG. He loved fishing and boating and over the years enjoyed being a foster parent. Joseph "Joe" E. Wiggins died Friday, June 19. He was 73.
Mr. Wiggins was known for his faith in the Lord and his abiding love for his family. He retired from ATK in 2005 after 38 years and he enjoyed his retirement by spending his time helping his son Dan with his farm work, as he has always had a love for farming and working in the fields. Mr. Wiggins also enjoyed planting and tending to his vegetable garden for many years. Kelli Anne Whiting of North East died Wednesday, June 17, 2015, in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. She was 43.
She was born in Massachusetts on September 19, 1971. Matthew Jay Bolte of North East died Sunday, June 14. He was 24.
Born in Newark, Del., on January 6, 1991, he was the son of Dana Sample Bolte of North East and the late Monte J. Bolte. A U.S. Army veteran, he was an apprentice with S.J. Desmond Electrical, Wilmington, Del. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, skateboarding, all water sports, and baseball. Rev. Otis Leon Doherty of Elkton died on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. He was 82. Born in Stonewall, Mississippi,, on August 22, 1932, he was the son of the late William Herman and the late Ester (Smith) Doherty. Rev. Doherty retired in 1998 as pastor for Ogletown Baptist Church, Newark, Del., after 24 years of service. He then served the church as retired Pastor Emeritus. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, snow and water skiing and piloting small planes. David Harlan Miller of Perryville died Saturday, June 13, 2015, in Baltimore. He was 32. Born November 21, 1982 in Havre de Grace, he was the son of Harlan and Brenda Rigney Miller of Perryville. Mr. Miller was employed by Mr. Tire, Aberdeen, as their assistant manager. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Dorothy Ellen Manning of North East died at home Sunday, June 14, 2015. She was 93.
Born in Perry Point on June 4, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Albert Ford and Rebecca (Atkinson) Manning. Mrs. Manning retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground after 30 years of service as a budget analyst. Johnathon Eugene Woods, Sr., 27, of North East, MD, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, MD. Born in West Chester, PA, he was the son of Larry W. and Illiam Yvette Perez Woods of North East, MD. Johnathon was Baptist by faith. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing and football. Johnathon was an avid Philadelphia Eagle’s fan. He loved his children. |
