James “Jimboy” Hammersely Biddle, 45, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 23, 2018. Jimboy was born on June 16, 1973 in Elkton, Maryland. He was the fourth child, and first born son, of Patricia Ann (Taylor) Clay and James Edward Biddle, Jr. Jimboy was known for his joyous personality and ability to make friends wherever he went. His genuine selflessness and generosity towards others showcased Jimboy’s heart of gold nature. He was beloved by many as a son, brother, father, uncle, friend and co-worker. Jimboy was an expert concrete finisher, working well over 25 years in the business, never leaving a floor unfinished. Jimboy’s favorite past times included story-telling, being a history buff, boxing, weight lifting, jogging, hunting, loving his cat “TeenTeen,” spending time with family, and being a dedicated father to his “babygirl.” Gibbs Stanley, 81, of Kirkwood, PA was called home on Friday, November 23, 2018 by his Lord and Savior. He was the husband of Audrey J. Porter Stanley with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Bakersville, NC he was the son of the late Dewey Wesley and Esta Gouge Stanley. Gibbs was a veteran of the US Army. He was employed with the Coatesville VA Hospital as the boiler plant supervisor for 12 years and later as a barber for 10 years retiring in 1995. He attended Nottingham Presbyterian Church. Gibbs was a generous man who loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends. Ray W. Melrath, Sr., 83, of Colora, MD, formerly of Oxford, PA passed away, Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at his home. Born in Oxford, he was the son of the late Lawrence Kirk and Alice Gertrude Jackson Melrath. Ray was a member of the American Legion Mason Dixon Post #194, Rising Sun, MD. He retired from Robinson’s Furniture, Oxford. Ray was an avid sports fan. He is survived by his longtime companion, Dorothy Adams; two sons, Dale Melrath of Oxford and Richard Melrath (Cindy) of Rising Sun, MD; one brother, Jack E. Melrath (Brenda) of Nottingham; five grandchildren, Chad Howell (Jodi), Richard Melrath Chris Melrath, Stephanie Melrath and Michael Roark; and great-grandchildren. Mildred Jane Biggers, age 90 of Colora, MD, passed away on November 21, 2018. She was born on May 14, 1928 in Elkton, MD to the late Clarence Woodward Kennard and Mary Elizabeth (Rothwell) Kennard.
Jane was dedicated to her family and will be dearly missed. Sarah Frances Bennett, 84 years, of Conowingo, MD, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 in the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center of Bel Air, MD. Born December 30, 1933 in Deer Park, MD, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Phyllis M. Smith Bolyard.
Sarah is survived by her sons, Joseph R. Bennett, Jr., of Colora, MD, Timothy S. Bennett and wife, Amy, also of Colora, MD, David G. Bennett of Red Lion, PA; daughter, Sarah L. Ruppert and husband, Marty, of Dover, PA; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Helmick of Newport, TN, and Patricia Simons of Elk Garden, WVA. Allan Vernon Brown, Jr., 56 years, of Aberdeen, MD, formerly of Perryville, MD, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in Gilchrest Hospice of Towson, MD. Born June 30, 1962 in Havre de Grace, MD, he was the son of the late Allan Vernon Brown, Sr. and Sarah Frances Walker Brown.
Allan was a self-employed master carpenter and is survived by his girlfriend, Carolyn Thompson; nephew, Ryan Thompson; nieces, Alana, Kylie, and Jesse Brown; brother-in-law, Scott Ertwine; step-daughter, Amanda Haass; and grandchildren, Jade, Joshua, Layla, Wesley, and Callan. Edna M Foreacre of North East died at home Wednesday, November 21, 2018. She was 83.
A lifelong resident of North East, she was born on May 27, 1935, the daughter of the late Howard and Alma (Kist) Simpers. Mrs. Foreacre was a member of St. Mary Anne’s Episcopal Church, North East, where she was a member of the choir and ECW. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, but the light of her life was her family. She loved the time spent with them, and seeing her family grow with the addition of each beloved grandchild and great grandchild. Raymond Sidell Amy, 73, of Oxford, PA, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Carol Ann Bettcher Amy with whom he shared 28 years of marriage. Born in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond G. and Anna Jenkins Amy. He was veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War. Raymond attended the Oxford Church of the Nazarene. Raymond retired from the Delaware County Prison as a supervisor. He was formerly employed as a Merchant Marine with the Sun Oil Co. and Phoenix Steel, Claymont, DE. He was a member of the American Legion Mason Dixon Post #194, Rising Sun, MD, he was the Captain of the Fire Police for the Union Fire Co. #1, Oxford and was a Board Director of Chester County Fire Police Association. Raymond also formerly an umpire for Joseph Barrett PIAA Umpire League of Delaware County. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Philadelphia teams, enjoyed tending to his ponderosa, and treasured spending time with his children, grandchildren and family. Austin Timothy Matheson, 17 of Chesapeake City, MD, died Friday, November 16, 2018 in Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE.
He was born in Johnson City, TN, on June 20, 2001 and was a student at Providence School, Elkton, MD. June Frances Crizer of North East died Sunday, November 18, 2018 in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air. She was 87. Born in Bealeton, Va., on January 17, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Willard J. and Ora (Klein) Andes. Mrs. Crizer was a member of North East Church of God where she served as a Bible teacher. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and listening to inspirational and Christian music. |
