Norma Jean Olson, of North East, died Sunday, December 29, 2013. She was 67.
Mrs. Olson was born in Bradenton, Florida, on October 12, 1946, daughter of the late Charles Lafe and the late Virginia Mary Gambuzza Walters. Madeline Zyskowski of Elkton, formerly of North Brunswick, N.J., died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. She was 90. Born in Jersey City, N.J., on September 22, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Felix and the late Eleonora (Wrzesienski) Kroll. She was the wife of the late Casey Zyskowski Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Zyskowski worked as an Attendance Clerk for New Brunswick High School, N.J. Angela Rene Page of North East died at home Sunday, December 22, 2013. She was 36. She was born in Chardon, Ohio, on September 25, 1977. Mrs. Page was a member of LifeSong Christian Church, Elkton, and enjoyed volunteering for church activities. She also enjoyed volleyball, and loved to sing and paint. She loved spending time with her friends and family and watching her children grow. Alice Prange Goshkey of Rising Sun died Monday, December 23, 2013. She was 80. Born in West Grove, Pa., she grew up in Cochranville, Pa., daughter of the late Alonza and Nellie Prange. She was a graduate of Oxford Area High School. She was employed by the Family Dollar store in Rising Sun for the last 14 years. Mrs. Goshkey had worked at a toy factory in Atglen, Pa., a sewing factory in Oxford, Pa., Hackneys restaurant in Atlantic City, and Best catalog store in Cheyenne, Wyoming. James F. "Popeye" Smith of Rising Sun, formerly of Oxford, Pa., died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. He was 71. Born in Mountain City, Tenn., he was the son of the late Wade and Emma Tester Smith. Mr. Smith enjoyed hunting, fishing, family gatherings, his Amish friends and gardening. He was always surrounded by his birds, ducks and animals at his home. No one ever left hungry after a visit with Popeye. He loved his family and friends especially his grandchildren in his later years. Rebekah Lynn Boyd of Port Deposi died Friday, December 20, 2013. She was 15. She was born in Elkton on September 28, 1998. Rebekah was a ninth grade student at North East High School. She attended Mercy Missionary Baptist Church, North East, where she was a member of the Youth Group. Rebekah loved animals and was a volunteer at Ruff Life Rescue. Dewey A. McClanahan of New Castle, Del., died at home Sunday, December 22, 2013 at home. He was 64.
He was born in Jolo, W.Va., on July 20, 1949. He was a 1968 graduate of North East High School. Janet Louise Gray of North East died at home on Thursday, December 19, 2013. She was 66.
Mrs. Gray was born July 29, 1947, a daughter of the late Chalmer W. and Dorothy Pearl Miller Smith. She was a lifelong resident of North East. She enjoyed her home, caring for her family, cooking, baking, and studying genealogy. Gary Edward Beal of Elkton died at home Thursday, December 19, 2013. He was 66. Born in Cumberland on December 10, 1947, he was the son of the late Wallace and the late Flossie Ruth (Largent) Beal. Mr. Beal worked for Williams Autos for over 30 years in the parts department. Glenn Allen Howell of North East died on Sunday, December 15, 2013. He was 51. He was a lifelong resident of Cecil County. Born in Elkton on September 2, 1962, son the late Eugene Waters and Mildred Crouch Howell. Mr. Howell was married to his high school sweetheart, the late, Kelly Gochneaur Howell for 26 years. He worked at Kunkles for 36 years, starting at the age of 15. He was a skilled carpenter for 25 years, also working for CMSI for 10 years part time. |
