John Leon Marden, 64 yrs, of Conowingo, MD, died Monday, March 30, 2015 at his residence. Born July 27, 1950 in Independence, KS, he was the son of Betty Louise Elliott Marden of Independence, KS, and the late Charles Leon Marden.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a Nuclear Engineer Owner/Operator of the JLM Company of Missouri. He loved golfing, fishing, and the Kansas City Chiefs. Kenneth Earl Bibey of Perryville died at home Sunday, March 29, 2015. He was 87. Born January 31, 1928 in Goodwill, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charlie Edward and Vergie Lee Taylor Bibey. Mr. Bibey was a member of the Eagles Hunting Club, the National Rifle Association, and the Susquehanna Good Sam Camping Club. He was owner/operator of Bibey Trucking, Inc., for almost 50 years. Audrey (Monk) Gerst of Colora died at home March 27, 2015. She was 77. Born on March 24, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Gladys Monk. She grew up on Kingsville and graduated from Parkville High School in 1956. Receiving Christ as her Savior in June of 1955, she was a member of Emmorton Baptist Church. In 2005, she moved to Colora to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. There she attended Porters Grove Baptist Church. She loved her church family dearly and they returned the love to her. Harry Milford “Babe” Jones of North East died at home Wednesday, March 25, 2015. He was 73. A lifelong resident of North East, he was born on July 24, 1941, the son of the late Paul W. and Hilda (Biddle) Jones. Mr. Jones proudly served in the U.S. Army for the First Calvary Division, Second Battalion, Seventh Calvary Regiment as a Medic during the Vietnam War. During his service he earned an Air Medal, Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his courageous efforts. For 17 years, he owned and operated Babe’s Market in North East. He also worked at Armour’s Market, North East. He was actively involved in the community, taking time to serve by coaching a baseball team for the North East Little League. Ann Snyder Johnson, formerly of North East, died Saturday March 7, 2015. She was 80. Born May 18, 1934 in Delaware County Pa., she was the third of six children of the late Kenneth and Lois Snyder. Mrs. Johnson graduated from West Chester State Teachers College where she met D. Victor Johnson. After their marriage they moved to Eagleville with their two children Amy and Don, followed by a move to Cecil County. They fell in love with foxhunting and both taught and retired from the New Castle, Delaware School District. Mrs. Johnson was a creative, loving, conscientious teacher. Her hostess skills were extraordinarily carried out at their home “Charm House” where social events were catered largely by her, happily, beautifully. James Charles Mason of North East died at home Sunday, March 22, 2015. He was 57.
He was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on February 28, 1958. He served in the U.S. Army for 17 years as a Sgt. 1st Class. Mr. Mason worked as an IT Specialist. Elton “Al” Earl Doane of Port Deposit died Thursday, March 19, 2015, in Seasons Hospice of Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. He was 79.
Born July 22, 1935 in Clarence, N.Y., he was the son of the late Warren Earl and Gertude Helena Hamann Doane. Mr. Doane was a career veteran having served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Marines and U.S. Air Force. Julie C. Adams, “Teenie” or “Nana” of North East died at home Thursday, March 19, 2015. She was 68.
Born in War, W.Va., on June 24, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Frank and the late Hazel (Winebarger) Buchanan. Mrs. Adams enjoyed playing Bingo and visiting Disney World. She loved working with the North East High School cheerleaders and they all affectionately called her “Cheer Nana”. Evangeline M. Ratledge of Conowingo died Sunday, March 15, 2015. She was 97. Born February 23, 1918 in Honaker, Va., she was the daughter of the late Dave and Minnie Hess. Mrs. Ratledge is survived by her sons, James W. Ratledge and Jack Ratledge, both of Conowingo; daughters, Mary Jean Roberson of Conowingo, Janette Ratledge of Sarasota, Fla., Judy Ann Sparling of Fort Myers, Fla., and Joann Dalton of Port Deposit; sisters, Audrey (Lou) Hess of Milan, Ill., and Mary Ellen Miller of Honaker, Va. Judy Lynn "G-Ski" Grzybowski of Rising Sun died Monday, March 9, 2015 in the Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton. She was 43.
She was born in Havre de Grace on November 27, 1971. Mrs. Grzybowski was a lifelong resident of Cecil County and graduate of Rising Sun High School. She worked as a forklift operator for Hollman Contract and Warehousing. |
