Constance Jean Julien, 77 of North East, MD, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018. Mom was as close to perfect as anyone could be, her heart was made of gold and she loved everyone. Her children were what she lived for. She loved planting flowers in her yard and making her home beautiful inside and out. She was so full of life and loved to laugh. She loved God with all of her heart and soul. Her famous words were “That’s a sin”. Mom is finally at peace and happy, Alzheimer’s took her away from us years before this. John Estle Vaughan, Sr., age 81, of Rising Sun, MD passed away peacefully on May 24, 2018. Born on November 29, 1936 in West Grove, PA, he was the son of the late John M. and Zella F. (Roberts) Vaughan. John was a lifelong truck driver, known to many by his call name, “Fat Daddy.” He was very passionate about living life on the road. He was also in the Army National Guard for 9 years. John’s most cherished time was spent with his family. John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Donna (Strawbridge) Vaughan; children: Connie Sue Vaughan, John Vaughan, Jr., Tom Vaughan, Sr. (Gerry), Joyce Ragan (David), Brenda Goodman (Kenny), David Vaughan (Naomi), and Anita Hennemuth (Will); son-in-law, Steve Kidd, Sr.; sisters: Louise Boyd VanHorn, Marie Boyd, Betty Lattanzio, and Patricia Lilly; 16 grandchildren; and 37 great grandchildren and counting. Ethel Frances Mayse, 87 years, of Conowingo, MD, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 at home. Born March 19, 1931 in Burdine, KY, she was the daughter of the late Hatler and Maggie Mullins.
Ethel was a member of Harvest Penticostal Church of North East, MD. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Tavis Mayse of Conowingo, MD; sons, Kenneth Mayse and wife, Shelly, of Orlando, FL, Fabian Mayse and wife, Sharon, of Liberty Grove, MD,Christopher Mayse and Beth Caffrey of Conowingo, MD; daughters, Rita Shepard of Elkton, MD, Deborah Spevak of North East, MD, Sherry Martin of Mifflintown, PA; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; brothers, Ivan Mullins of Sun City, FL, Frank Mullins of Ruskin, FL, Paul Mullins of Wimauma, FL, Morri Faith Ann Jack, 53 years, of Conowingo, MD, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018 at the University of Maryland Harford Memorial Hospital of Havre de Grace, MD. Born July 6, 1964 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Linda List and Norman Leroy Grammer, Jr.
Faith is survived by her husband, Edward N. Jack of Conowingo, MD; daughter, Lindsey Nichole Bowersox; step-daughter, Danielle L.eigh Jack; one grandchild; brothers, Vince Grammer and William Grammer; and half-sister, Kristina Mohr. In addition to her parents, Faith was preceded in death by her son, Brian Andrew Simmons. Harold M. Riale, Sr., age 66, a friend to many, passed away at his home in Perryville, MD, on Wednesday, May 16, 2018. Born July 23, 1951 in Havre de Grace, MD, he was the son of the late Stanley and Virginia Riale of Perryville, MD.
Harold is survived by his loving son, Harold Riale, Jr., and his wife, Angela; daughter, Heather Riale; brothers, Stanley “Spike” Riale and William “Billy” Riale; sisters, Delores Riale Reil, Rhonda Harvey, Anita Blackburn and Evelyn Jones; grandchildren, Leah McKinney, Chelsea McKinney, Kylee Riale and Christian Riale; along with many nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wesley Riale. Throughout his life Harold loved serving his community and was a dedicated life member of The Community Fire Company of Perryville, MD, where he held the past offices of EMS Captain, Fire Police Captain, Board of Director and served on many committees. Harold loved being “Santa” for the children of the community and seeing them smile when they saw “Santa” arriving on the fire truck to hear their Christmas wishes. Rodney A. Mueller, 70 of North East, MD, died Monday, May 21, 2018 in Union Hospital, Elkton, MD. Born in Austin, TX, on November 5, 1947, he was the son of the late Joe and Nell (Robertson) Mueller. He was the husband of the late Karen Lemmerman Mueller who passed on July 24, 2017. Rodney retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years as a mechanic. During that time, he served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam and was stationed in England for 4 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 6027, North East, MD and enjoyed traveling. Survivors include 3 daughters: Monica Neashan of London, England, Amy Easton of Cedar Park, TX and Julie Mueller of Lockhart, TX; and his siblings: Roxanne Foraday of Cedar Creek, TX, Dixie Olson of Houston, TX, Vickie Whetsell of Aransas Pass, TX and Randy Mueller of Kansas City, MO. Walter Funk of Rising Sun died Friday, May 11, 2018. He was 75. Born in Bainbridge, on June 5, 1942, he was the son of the late William Glenn and Stella Edith (Anderson) Funk. Mr. Funk was a lifetime member of the Rising Sun Fire Company, where he was past president and was active in supporting the Ladies Auxiliary. He served on both the Harford and Cecil County Volunteer Firemen Associations and held the title of vice president in the Cecil County Association for many years. He served as the delegate of the Ocean City Firemen’s Convention for many years as well and always loved attending the event each year. Patrick Timothy McCartan died peacefully at home on May 11th, 2018 in Rising Sun, MD at the age of 69, as a result of Agent Orange-related cancers from his military service in Vietnam. Patrick was born on July 11th, 1948 in Ryan, PA to John and Marie McCartan. He graduated from Grand Island High School, NY in 1966 and joined the Army, serving in the Vietnam War. After he left the military, he pursued a variety of careers and later reenlisted to serve in Korea. After completing his service, he became a nurse, eventually treating veterans at the Perry Point VA Hospital where he met his wife. He left the VA and spent the duration of his nursing career at Christiana Care Hospital as a neuro-critical care nurse and nursing informatics specialist. He earned his Master’s degree in Community Health Nursing and a second Master’s degree in Nursing Education. Patrick was a witty, sarcastic, loving, caring, and selfless individual who loved his pups, Bo and Layla dearly. He cherished time spent with his family and at his vacation home in Cape Coral, Florida. Edward Leigh Duff, 85 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 in the Laurelwood Healthcare Center of Elkton, MD. Born November 16, 1932 in Havre de Grace, MD, he was the son of the late Edward E. and Gertrude Cecil Duff.
Edward Leigh was employed as a welder by the former Wiley Manufacturing Company of Port Deposit, MD, and by the army at the Aberdeen Proving Ground of Aberdeen, MD. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Mason Dixon Post No.194 of Rising Sun, MD. He is survived by his sons, Daniel L. Duff of Elkton, MD, and Brian W. Duff of Bel Air, MD; daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Duff of Port Deposit, MD; four grandchildren, Carl and Owen Duff and Andrew and Sarah Duff. Edward Leigh was preceded in death by his wife, Lois McDougal Duff, and brother, Marvin Duff. Betty Alene (Ramsey) Henson, a genuine Coal Miner’s Daughter, went home on May 8, 2018. Mom was born on February 22, 1926 to Oakley Homer and Nancy A. Ramsey in Hamlin, Virginia.
