James Andrew Jordan, Sr. age 76 of Port Deposit, MD passed away on February 19, 2018. He was born on March 15, 1941 in Ripley, TN to the late William Andrew Jordan and Exie (Wright) Marrow. James served his country for four years in the Air Force. Once he was honorably discharged, he worked as a painter at Chrysler in Newark, DE. James umpired softball for 20 years and was an avid player making it all the way through to the Senior Olympics. He was also a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Havre de Grace, MD and a volunteer fire fighter for Minquadale Fire Company for nine years. Dora L. (Gregson) Green, 60 of North East, MD, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018. A lifelong resident of Cecil County, she was born in Elkton, on June 30, 1957. Dora worked as a stocker in the North East Walmart. She was a member of State Line Baptist Church, Rising Sun, MD and was an avid reader of the Bible and enjoyed crocheting. Survivors include her daughter: Laura Mae Gregson and son: George Gregson; parents: Robert W. and Dorothy Mae (Creswell) Gregson; siblings: Wanda Barnett, Vanessa Rose and Robert Gregson, Sr. Jean H. Botts of Middletown, Del. died Monday, February 26, 2018, at Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. She was 82. Born in Clayton, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Cloyd and Alice Downs Henderson. She was a member of the West Nottingham Presbyterian Church, Colora. Mrs. Botts was employed with DuPont, Glascow, Del., retiring in 1993. She enjoyed golf, skiing, bowling and reading. Kahla DeHaven Johnson, 27 of Newark, DE, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at home.
She was born in Elkton, MD, on January 30, 1991. Kahla worked as a waitress at Perkins Family Restaurant. She was a great mom and loved to volunteer at the Ray of Hope Mission. She enjoyed her time taking classes at Cecil College in Accounting and Business. Zelda Cecilia Briscoe, 66 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at home. Born May 3, 1951 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Agnes Cecilia Brown Barnes.
Mrs. Briscoe was formerly employed by the Cecil County Public School System and the Iron Skillet Restaurant. She is survived by her husband, Gary L. Briscoe of Port Deposit, MD; daughters, Charron V. Briscoe of North East, MD, and Heather J. Briscoe of Port Deposit, MD; four grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters. Lafern M. Myers, 73 yrs, of Perryville, MD, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at home. Born November 10, 1944 in Santa Cruz, CA, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Rena Riley Rhodes.
Mrs. Myers was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served from 1963 until 1965. She was formerly employed by the Aberdeen Proving Ground of Aberdeen, MD, in accounting. She is survived by her sons, Steve Myers of Port Deposit, MD, and James Myers of Elkton, MD; daughter, Joanne Green of Perryville, MD; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Myers; son, Shawn Myers; brother, Kenneth Rhodes; and sister, Loretta Rhodes. Charles “Pepper” Lewis Martin, 80 years, of Elkton, MD, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018 at his home. Born March 16, 1937 in Perry Point, MD, he was the son of the late Roger Stephen and Margaret Mary Ebner Martin. Pepper was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served from 1957 until 1963. He was retired from the Maryland State Police, Thiokol, and the Chesapeake Bay Golf Course. Pepper is survived by his wife, Barbara Joan Martin of Elkton, MD; sons, Charles “Chuck” Martin II and wife, Tracie, and Kerry Jay Martin; and grandson, Charles “Chuckie” Martin III. Richard Andrew Bonham, 59 of Elkton, MD, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at home.
He was born in Cambridge, MD, on March 10, 1958. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Bonham worked for Cecil County Public Schools at Bainbridge Elementary. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling to the Bahamas. Jonathan G. Hughes, 69 of Port Deposit, MD, died Monday, February 19, 2018 in the Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace, MD.
Born in Havre de Grace, on September 20, 1948, he was the son of the late Warren Anthony and Ivagene (Yohn) Hughes. Mr. Hughes retired from Chrysler after 30 years of service. He enjoyed playing cards and sports. Robert Lewis Bowlsbey, 77 of Elkton, MD, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 after a long illness.
He was born on April 25, 1940, the son of the late James I and Edith (Castelow) Bowlsbey of Childs, MD. After high school he served in the US Air Force. Bob retired after being a car carrier driver for Leaseway Motor Freight for 37 years. He was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church of Newark, DE. He loved to fish and hunt; but the joy of his life was his Lord, family and friends. Nothing made him happier than to have the house full of family, friends and loved ones. |
