Martha Alice Palmer of Elkton died Saturday, March 26, 2016 in the Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun. She was 85. Born in Philadelphia on October 3, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Marie Woehr. Mrs. Palmer was a kindergarten aide for over 20 years at Conowingo Elementary School. She loved her family dearly, especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Palmer attended Kensington High School in Philadelphia; as class President her slogan for voting recruitment was “Be a Smarty and vote for Marty.” She likewise attended and graduated from Philadelphia Bible College and served the Lord with her musical talents as a pianist.
Following graduation, Mrs. Palmer served as a bookkeeping supervisor at General Electric. In time she joined Morning Cheer Incorporated and served as Dr. George A Palmer’s secretary and Office Manager of Morning Cheer’s Philadelphia office and Sandy Cove Bible Conference. She is survived by her husband, Paul Palmer, Sr.; three sons, George A Palmer III (Tonya), of Tipton, Pa., Paul Palmer, Jr. (Sue) of Elkton, David A. Palmer (Sue) of Colora; a brother, David Woehr of Toms River, N.J. and a sister, Elsie Baughman of Smyrna, Del.; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Harlacker. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Jack Palmer, will be held Thursday, March 31, at 11 a.m. at Sandy Cove Ministries, 60 Sandy Cove Road, North East, where the family will receive guests beginning at 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be private in Rose Bank Cemetery, Rising Sun. Comments are closed.
