H. (Homard) Terry Deamond of North East died Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center. He was 71. A lifelong Cecil County resident, he was born on March 4, 1944, in Bay View, to the late Ralph Dewey and Myrtle Russell Deamond. Mr. Deamond was a 1962 graduate of North East High School. He was a 1965 graduate of Goldey Beacom School of Business in Wilmington, Del., where he received an Associate’s Degree with Honors. He had also attended Towson State College. He was employed as a computer programmer by E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. for more than 25 years and retired from Computer Sciences Corporation. While working for DuPont in 1991, he was selected to travel to Singapore to establish a data center. Mr. Deamond was a 50-year honorary lifetime member of the North East Fire Company. He held the offices of chief, president, secretary, treasurer, director, deputy chief, assistant chief and new apparatus committee chair.
He also served on various other committees and as a delegate to the MSFA Convention, Cecil County Firemen’s Association and Harford/Cecil Fireman’s Association. Mr. Deamond was inducted into the Harford/Cecil Firemen’s Hall of Fame in 1995. He was also a lifetime member of the Maryland Fire Chief’s Association. In addition, he served as Cecil County Firemen’s representative on the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute Advisory Board for the MFRI North East Regional Training Center at APG. He served as Election Board Chairman for the Town of North East and was a Cecil County Chief Election Judge. Mr. Deamond also had belonged to the Rogues Harbour Hunting Club where he became an associate member after becoming ill. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Pat); two nieces; a nephew and special friends, Linda and Willard Slicer, Janet Patchell, Nora Ryan; and his North East Fire Company brotherhood. He was preceded in death by by his parents, Ralph D. and Myrtle Deamond; parents-in-law: Amos A. and Martha Lockard; sister, Jacqueline D. Russell who died July 4, 2015; and brother-in-law: Harry Russell. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, July 9, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East. Funeral services, with full fire department honors will be held on Friday, July 10, at 11 a.m. at North East Fire Company, 210 South Mauldin Ave., North East. Burial will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East,. Flowers are welcome. Memorial contributions may be made to H. Terry Deamond Old 38 Fund, in care of the funeral home to help maintain the antique fire truck which was near and dear to his heart. Comments are closed.
