G. Roger Charsha of Perryville died at home on Friday, June 27, 2014. He was 90. Mr. Charsha was born in Perry Point, a son of the late William Wrightson and Mildred A. Jackson Charsha. He was a 1942 graduate of Jacob Tome Institute, Port Deposit. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Vermillion. Mr. Charsha worked as a crane operator at Aberdeen Proving Ground until he retired after more than 37 years' service. Following his retirement from APG in 1980, he worked for Neff Construction. He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church, Port Deposit.
Mr. Charsha is survived by his daughters, Mary Jane, wife of Jim Syphard of Bel Air, Anne Charsha, wife of Tim Tolbert of Perryville, and Janet Lynn, wife of Glen Deskin of Havre de Grace; three grandchildren, Eric, husband of Laurie Syphard of Bel Air, Lindsey, wife of Chris Kramer of Darien, Conn., and Audrey Tolbert of New York City; and two great-grandchildren, Addie Syphard and Lilly Kramer. His wife, Vivian Craig Charsha, is deceased. Friends may call at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, Perryville, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, June 30. Services will be held from the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, with the Rev. Ray Graham officiating. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, Port Deposit.
