Duane Michael Belcher-Esposito, 35, of Rising Sun, MD passed away peacefully on Monday, June 5, 2017 due to an unforeseen medical condition (Acute Coronary Syndrome). Born on March 24, 1982 in Havre de Grace, MD he was the son of Mary L. and Frank Esposito. Duane served his country honorably from 2005 to 2009 in the United States Marine Corps and was also part of the Marine Expeditionary Force (MAGTF) in North Africa. An IT Professional who recently started his own IT business, Savvy-IT, Duane studied Computer Science at Towson University along with Computer Programming at the Community College of Baltimore County where he earned his B.S. degree. Duane loved fishing, playing guitar, collecting football and baseball cards, reading, watching movies, and competitive gaming. With a great sense of humor, he loved to be around his family and friends. Duane also loved animals. Richard Samuel Murson, Jr., age 84, of Elkton, MD, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017. Born in Elkton on January 2, 1933, he was the son of the late Richard S. and Thresa Foreacre Murson.
Mr. Murson retired from Schult Mobile Homes, Elkton, as an electrician. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, carving and going out on his boat. Survivors include his daughter, Kim Mackie; and good friends, Bill and Krista Cooper and their family, Billy, Joey, Kyle, Selina and Serenidy. Sonia W. Everett of Elkton, MD, age 75, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017. She was born in Wilmington, DE on September 6, 1941 to the late Alexander T. Wavrinevich, Sr. and Tessie (Siemienski) Wavrinevich. Sonia enjoyed cooking, fishing and hunting deer and water fowl. She especially loved working with her husband, Roger to breed and train hunting Labrador Retrievers. Iva Anne Ham of Rising Sun, MD, age 79, passed away Tuesday, June 06, 2017. She was born February 4, 1938. Iva started teaching Sunday school at West Nottingham Presbyterian. She later became a member of Janes United Methodist Church where she continued to actively teach Sunday school. Iva and her husband, Earl, hosted sailors stationed at Bainbridge. She held many jobs throughout her years, but she most enjoyed her job at the Library at Perry Point, MD. She was a past Cecil County Farm Queen. Iva enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, making flower arrangements, oil and charcoal painting, ceramics and cake decorating. She spent the majority of her life raising and nurturing her four children while caring for many others in the community. Being a natural care giver and excellent cook, Iva would often cook and deliver dinners to those in need. She was a very talented and blessed woman who brought joy to so many with her kind heart and generous gestures. Joshua Scott Brown, 37, of Rising Sun, MD passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017. Born on August 6, 1979 in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of Carol Buckland and the late Clifford Scott Brown.
Joshua had a larger than life personality. He greatly enjoyed being outdoors in nature, especially if he was near the water. Joshua was passionate about fishing, participating in both surf fishing and fresh water fishing. He was an avid Baltimore Ravens fan and loved being around his family and friends. Joshua’s favorite time was spent with his son, to whom he was a wonderful father. Richard Lee Taylor, Jr., of Chesapeake City, MD passed away on June 2, 2017. He was 79. He was born on August 21, 1937 in Salisbury, MD to the late Richard Lee Taylor, Sr. and Tillie (Church) Taylor. Richard was a graduate of Wicomico High School and Salisbury College in Salisbury. He obtained his Master's Degree from Washington College in Chestertown. He continued his education and took advanced courses for his school administration certification. He dedicated 31 years to Cecil County Public Schools. He also earned his Graduate Realtor Institute credentials and worked for 20 years as a Cecil County Realtor. Jessie "Evelyn" McMullen of Port Deposit, MD, age 71, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017. She was born in Rome, GA on March 26, 1946 and named for her parents, the late Jesse Leroy Digsby and Samantha Evelyn (Tyree) Digsby. Evelyn worked for the Perry Point Federal Credit Union for 15 years. She also served as a reserve officer for the Department of Natural Resources. Evelyn enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing Bingo, square dancing and flower gardening. She found great pleasure in raising and rehabilitating orphaned wildlife, having saved many lives through her efforts. James A. Paxson, 69, of Conowingo, MD, formerly of Oxford, PA passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun, MD.
Born May 12, 1948, he was the son of the late Everard (Buzz) and Elizabeth (Betty) Fuchs Paxson of New London. James was an avid fisherman. Harold E. Futty of Oxford. PA. passed away Friday April 7, 2017 after a brief illness at the age of ninety-two. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Harvey Futty with whom they shared sixty-eight years of marriage. Born in Childs, Maryland on August 20, 1924, he was the son of the late Charles and Bertha Futty. Harold moved to the Oxford area when he was two years old and lived on the same property until his passing. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert Futty and Ralph Futty. Harold was a member of the Christian Life Center where he and Elizabeth both served on the prayer team. Harold also served as Deacon at several local churches and tried to serve the Lord wherever he attended. He owned Harold E. Futty, Inc., a paving and excavating business where he did grading, dug basements and ponds, built horse race tracks and contracted with many local townships. In the winter, you would find him plowing snow for both local townships and the state highway department. He sold his business in 1978 and went to work for Crouse Brothers of Elkton, Maryland until his retirement. He loved the outdoors, having a cabin in the beautiful mountains of Potter Country where friends and family would visit. He enjoyed hunting deer and Turkey and was successful in that endeavor. The Grandchildren especially loved it there and fondly referred to it as Pop-Pop’s hill. He also loved to visit with young people and in his younger years enjoyed his time as a local Boy Scout leader. He and Elizabeth loved to travel in their motor home, especially with friends, and tour across the country. Another passion was square dancing. After retiring he enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He had a passion for raising sweet corn and sweet potatoes. James Chase Patterson, 88yrs., of Freedom Village Coatesville, formerly of Exton, husband of L, Ruth (Hedrick) passed away on May 19th of complications from Diabetes. Born on September 2, 1928 in Berwyn to Horace and Alice Chase Patterson, he attended Ridley Park High School and Williamsport Technical School specializing in auto mechanics. This led to his expertise in modifying engines required for stock car racing, combined with his skill as a driver it made him a very successful competitor. Drafted in 1951, he served his country in the 82nd Armored Recon Division stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. After discharge from the service he returned to the family farm, but the lure of auto racing and mechanics was his greater interest, which led him to begin his lifetime career with Sloan Ford in West Grove. After a brief time in the shop, he advanced to the sales department specializing in the sale of trucks. Throughout his life, Jim had a strong work ethic that led to his success in the business world. In 1965, the family moved to Downingtown where he opened a Ford franchise in partnership with the Sloan family. A new facility was built in 1973 in Exton, PA. and in May 1982, he became the sole owner of Sloan Motors. |
