Edward Fowler Anthony, age 79, of North East, MD passed away peacefully at his home Monday, June 5, 2017. Born January 8, 1938 in Elkton, MD, Edward was the son of the late James C. Anthony and the late Amelia Castelow Stanley.
Mr. Anthony was retired from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 126, of Collegeville, PA. He loved spending time with his family and making runs and deliveries for J&L Automotive in North East. Iva Anne Ham of Rising Sun, MD, age 79, passed away Tuesday, June 06, 2017. She was born February 4, 1938. Iva started teaching Sunday school at West Nottingham Presbyterian. She later became a member of Janes United Methodist Church where she continued to actively teach Sunday school. Iva and her husband, Earl, hosted sailors stationed at Bainbridge. She held many jobs throughout her years, but she most enjoyed her job at the Library at Perry Point, MD. She was a past Cecil County Farm Queen. Iva enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, making flower arrangements, oil and charcoal painting, ceramics and cake decorating. She spent the majority of her life raising and nurturing her four children while caring for many others in the community. Being a natural care giver and excellent cook, Iva would often cook and deliver dinners to those in need. She was a very talented and blessed woman who brought joy to so many with her kind heart and generous gestures. Paula Louise Crothers Pierce, 75 years, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 in Franklin Square Medical Center of Baltimore, MD. Born June 8, 1942 in Rowlandsville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Elwood Leslie and Genevieve G. Schlossnagle Crothers. Mrs. Pierce was formerly employed as an accounts manager by F. Schumacher of Newark, DE. She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Hennemuth of Rising Sun, MD, Patrick Hennemuth of Cecilton, MD, Will Hennemuth and wife, Anita, of Rising Sun, MD; grandchildren, Ashley Hennemuth and fiancé, Zach Ewing, Kyrstin Frederick, Matthew Raines, Patrick Hennemuth, Jr., and wife, Sara, Luke Hennemuth, and Kyle Hedrick and wife, Becky; great grandchildren, Lillea Raines, Ryan Raines, Camdyn May Raines, Cameron Jordan, Kadynse Hennemuth, and Julius Causey; brother, Elwood Clair Crothers; and sister, Mary Jane Crothers Langan. Roger Lee Price, Sr., age 74, of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 11, 2017. He was born in Bristol, VA, on July 24, 1942.
Mr. Price was a retired truck driver for DuPont and Conoco. He was very proud of his work and was a member of Teamsters Local #312, Chester, PA. Mr. Price served as a deacon at Wards Hill Baptist Church, Warwick, MD, and was a member of Middletown Baptist Church, Middletown, DE. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and befriended everyone he met. The family is grateful to Amedisys Hospice, especially Rae Ann Matherly, for the care provided to Mr. Price. Bobby Lee Smith, age 30, of Elkton, MD, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 12, 2017, from complications following surgery on Friday, June 9. Born in Newark, DE, on June 19, 1986, he was the son of Robert E. Lee Smith, Elkton, MD, and Candice Larson Peterson, Earleville, MD. Bobby was a logger and a caregiver. He loved being with his family, drawing and video games. Bobby was his family's angel on Earth. In his memory, his family asks that you pay it forward by loving your family and friends, and always be kind, loyal and caring to everyone you meet. Virginia Buckworth Barnes, 95, of Elkton, MD went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 9, 2017 surrounded by her family. Born on March 1, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Samuel H. and Emma Temperance Spear Buckworth. Virginia graduated from Middletown High School where she enjoyed playing basketball, once representing the school in a State free throw competition, making 49 of 50 consecutive shots. Following graduation, she attended beauty school. Virginia met and married Harry D. Barnes and went on to enjoy a successful career as Broker at Barnes Realty Company for the next 40 years. A lifelong member of Elkton United Methodist Church, she had been active with the Gleaners and United Methodist Women. She enjoyed music, dancing, spending time at the beach and loved to shop. She especially liked celebrating the simplest of things with family and friends and had a warm and genuine smile for everyone she met. Myrtle W. Parks, 94 of Rising Sun, MD, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 10, 2017.
Born in Aldino, MD, on May 16, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and the late Laurinda (Young) Walter. She was the wife of the late Harry R. Parks who passed on September 13, 2009. Mrs. Parks worked for many years as a clerk for Cramer’s 5 & 10 in North East, MD. She was a member of Shelemiah UM Church, Bay View, MD. She enjoyed traveling, music and watching the Orioles play. But most of all she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Darlalynn Kathryn Foster, 67 years, of North East, MD, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at her residence. Born June 23, 1949 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Leroy A. and Brigetta L .Wunner Bafford.
Darlalynn was a certified nurse assistant employed for 27 years by the V.A. Maryland Health Care System of Perry Point, MD. Darlalynn is survived by her sons, Lee A. Foster and his wife, Juanita, of Elkton, MD, and David F. Romig of North East, MD; two grandchildren, Megan Foster and Adam Foster; sisters, Sharon Miller of Salisbury, MD, Betty Lea Ingle of McRae, AR, and June Crawford of Westminster, MD. Mildred Elizabeth Vance, 79 of North East, MD, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017.
Born in Killarney, WV, on September 20, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Walter Roscoe and the late Vinnie Pearl (Coalson) Janney. She was the wife of the late Albert Lee Vance. Mildred had worked at Johnny's Restaurant, Elkton Sparkler Company, and Sandy Cove Ministries. She was a member of North East Church of God. Donald Herbert Ewing, 47 of Earleville, MD, died Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at home. Born in Ridley Park, PA, on January 4, 1970, he was the son of Danny Lee and Deborah (Steiner) Ewing of Elkton, MD. Donny, a member of the YMCA, enjoyed running, rock climbing, dancing, hiking, biking and the outdoors. Most of all he enjoyed spending with his son Devin and daughter Zoe. He was a Chief Custodian at Leeds Elementary School and custodian at Elkton United Methodist Church. |
