Anita L. Mackey of Rising Sun died May 19, 2015 at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. She was 62. Born in Havre de Grace on March 30, 1953, she was the daughter of the late James White and Freda White/Carpenter. She was a 1970 graduate of Rising Sun High School and worked at Alger Oil and Wendy’s in North East. Mrs. Mackey loved camping, scrapbooking and country line dancing. She had a special affection for her Pug (Savannah) and enjoyed classic car shows. She was especially proud of her 1964 Mercury Comet convertible and a member of the Moonlite Cruisers car club of Quarryville, Pa. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, John Mackey; her son Brian Keith Mackey and his wife Karey of Rising Sun; and her daughter Jeanette Ewing and her husband Albert of Elkton; her sister Gloria Smeltzer and companion Ellis Bittle of North East; her brother Charles White and his wife Johanna of Rising Sun; and her four precious grandchildren, Breanna and Jack Ewing and Kasey and Kameron Mackey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A service honoring her life will be held at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911 on Wednesday May 27, at 2 p.m. with a visitation at the funeral home Tuesday evening May 26 from 6-8 p.m. or onr hour prior to the Wednesday service. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and mailed to the funeral home. Comments are closed.
