Lemuel George "Lem" Hammond of Rising Sun died Sunday, September 21, 2014. He was 89.
Born May 25, 1925 in Milford, Del., he was the son of the late Fredrick and Mary Hammond. Marie Esther Lucas of Perryville died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014 at the Calvert Manor Healthcare Center. She was 92. She was born on February 3, 1922 in North East, to the late Frank and Lucy M. (Reed) Schuman. She worked at Triumph Explosives during World War II. She was a lifelong resident of Cecil County and a devoted member of the Rosebank United Methodist Church. Mrs. Lucas loved gardening, watching the birds, tending to her many flowerbeds, and cooking for family, friends, and neighbors. She and her late husband, Earl, also volunteered for many years delivering for Meal on Wheels in Cecil County. Bonnie L. Ward of Rising Sun died Sunday, September 5, 2014. She was 64.
She was the daughter of the late Riley Patrick and Eleanor (Fonda) Patrick. She was a mother, grandmother and homemaker who worked previously at Calvert Manor Nursing Home and Oxford Cannery. If anyone asked what she loved the most it was her kitties Smokey, Bear, and Tom. Paul B. Skinner Jr. of North East died at home Sunday, September 21, 2014. He was 58.
Born in Chester County, Pa. on December 26, 1955, he was the son of the late Paul B. Skinner Sr. and the late Bessie Mae (Daves) Skinner. He was a retired rehab technician and geriatric nursing assistant. Donald Meck of Port Deposit died Saturday, September 20, 2014 in Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center of Havre de Grace. He was 87.
Born December 5, 1926 in Port Deposit, he was the son of the late Mary Amelia Meck. Mr. Meck was a veteran of the U.S. Army, was formerly employed by the former Wiley Manufacturing Company of Port Deposit, the State of Maryland, and the Marshall Bus Company of Port Deposit. Goldie Burl McDowell of Conowingo died at home Friday, September 19, 2014. She was 84. Born December 10, 1929 in North Carolina she was the daughter of the late Jesse H. Oliver and Sally Miller. Mrs. McDowell was a member of Tome Memorial United Methodist Church of Port Deposit, and more recently began attending Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit. She was employed by the former Bainbridge Naval Training Center as a seamstress. Annie W. Graybeal Bonner of North East died Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Prestige Manor, Belleview, Fla. She was 96.
She was born in Baltimore on August 18, 1918, daughter of the late William and Mary Margaret Jordan. Mrs. Bonner was a member of North East Senior Citizens. James (Jim) Hudson of Perryville died at home Thursday, September 18. He was 80.
He was born November 9, 1933 in Seymour Indiana. Mr. Hudson was the Engineering Manager of Digital Systems at Northrop Grumman Corp, retiring in 1997. Barbara S. Howell of Cambridge, formerly of North East, died Wednesday, September 17, 2014. She was 79. Mrs. Howell was born on March 6, 1935, in a home on the duPont property, now Fair Hill, to Harold and Elsie Cockerham Strahorn. Mrs. Howell graduated from Elkton High School and attended Towson Teachers College. William D. Creeger of Rising Sun died at his home Tuesday, September 16, 2014. He was 90.
Born September 6, 1924 in Tiffin, Ohio, he was the son of the late William H. and Clara E. Creeger. Mr. Creeger enlisted in the United States Navy December 7, 1941 shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served much of his time in the South Pacific during World War II. |
