George W. Barnard, Jr. died at his home April 7, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was 93. He was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, to Ethel and George W. Barnard, Sr., on Friday the 13th of January, 1922. He graduated from Allegany High School (Cumberland) and attended the University of Maryland until he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in 1943, retiring as a Captain in 1946. Johnny W. Kyte, of Rising Sun died Sunday, April 5, in Heartland Hospice, Wilmington, Delaware. He was 73.
Mr. Kyte was born June 24, 194, in Mountain City, Tennessee, a son of Conley and Villa Kyte. He was a retired Boilermaker. He was a member of Sons of American Legion Post 194, Rising Sun, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2259, Sebring, Florida, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2666 Oxford, Pennsylvania, and Oxford Gun Club. He was an avid golfer and skeet shooter and played in the Harford-Cecil Shuffleboard League for many years. Nancy Smith Briones of North East died Monday, April 6, 2015. She was 76. Born in Elkton on July 5, 1938, she was the daughter of the late William H. and the late Emma E. (Weicksel) Smith. She retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground after 24 years of service in Administration. Mrs. Briones was a member of North East United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, drawing, painting, music and reading about history. Most of all she loved her family and the time spent with them. Linda Marie Banner of Elkton died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Genesis Healthcare, Elkton. She was 66.
Born in West Chester, Pa., on November 12, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Frank Lane and the late Frankie Jane (Roope) Eller. Mrs. Banner was an Army wife for 32 years, making a home for her family wherever they were stationed. Ulysses Grant McCoy of Port Deposit died at home Sunday, April 5, 2015. He was 91.
Born February 19, 1924 in Neva, Tenn., he was the son of the late Franklin Columbus and Margaret Eveline Tester McCoy. Mr. McCoy served his county as a U.S. Navy diver from 1945 until 1947. He was assigned to the USS Ajax, witnessed the Bikini Atoll Atomic Bomb Testing project in Hawaii and retained photos of the event. He received the World War II Victory Medal in 1947. William John Reynolds of Elkton died Sunday, April 5, 2015. He was 64.
Born in Pa. on December 8, 1950, he was the son of the late William A. Reynolds and the late Shirley (Patton) Reynolds. He was also the stepson of the late Ruth (Garrett) Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds was self-employed as a marine claims adjuster and marine surveyor, Reynolds Marine Consultants. Doretta Stenti of North East died Sunday, April 5, 2015. She was 87.
She was the daughter of the late William and Mary Bouchelle. Mrs. Stenti was a homemaker that loved watching all forms of wildlife from her front porch. She had a particular love for all kinds of cats. Some of her favorite memories were of helping her father milk cows on the family farm. She was a true country girl. Eugene Michael Koproski of Perryville died Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the V.A. Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He was 69.
Born January 11, 1946 in Shamokin, Pa., he was the son of the late Francis Joseph and Arlene Mildred Lyons Koproski. Mr. Koproski was a veteran of the United States Army having served from September 1967 until September 1970. Mary N. Jones, 90, of Newark, DE, formerly of Oxford passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Union Hospital, Elkton, MD. She was the wife of the late John Talmedge Jones with whom she shared 35 years of marriage. Born in Jefferson, NC she was the daughter of the late Rubin Johnson and Judy Marie Dixon. Mary enjoyed puzzles and playing cards. She is survived by her two daughters, Lola Stanton and her husband, Alfred of Newark, DE, Bobbi Miller and her husband, Robert of North East, MD; one sister Grace Everett of Harrisburg; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandsons. |
