Anna Lee Amos, 81 years, of Perryville, MD, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 in University of Maryland Harford Memorial Hospital of Havre de Grace, MD. Born January 16, 1936 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Stanley Lee and Lillian Eckstein Taylor. Mrs. Amos was a member of the Perryville United Methodist Church and the Perryville United Methodist Church Choir. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines, the Red Hats, and the Perry Point Retirees. Gary Wayne Hurt, 30 of Elkton, MD, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 13, 2017.
He was born in Elkton, MD, on October 31, 1986. Gary was a maintenance mechanic for Twinco Romax. He enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, karaoke and computer gaming. He was always the life of the party. Paul Palmer, North East, MD has entered the gates of Heaven! He was born in Camden, NJ son of Dr. George A and Rachel Palmer. He was married to Martha (Marty) Palmer for 59 years. He is survived by his three sons: George (Tonya), Paul Jr. (Suzanne) and David (Sue); 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and brother: Jack (June) Palmer. He was preceded in death by his wife Marty, brothers: George Jr, Gilbert, Bill, Bob; and sisters: Betty Lou and Ruth. Burton Preston "Mose" DeBusk, age 86, of North East, MD, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017. Born in Damascus, VA, on May 9, 1930, he was the son of the late Isaac A. and Susan Widener DeBusk.
Mr. DeBusk retired as a mechanic from Bruce Industrial, New Castle, DE. He loved playing music, traveling with his family, and building wind chimes. Walter E. Trego, age 77, of Fair Hill, MD, passed away at home on Monday, January 9, 2017, surrounded by his family. Born in Upper Uwchlan Township, PA, on August 3, 1939, he was the son of the late Absalom L. and Mabel Garvine Trego.
Mr. Trego retired from the Cecil County Government Roads Division. He was a life member of William M. Singerly Steam Fire Engine & Hook & Ladder Company No. 1, where he served on the Board of Directors, as an engineer and station captain, and was very active in the fire prevention program. Other memberships included life member of the Lionville Fire Company, St. John's United Methodist Church, Elkton, Mt. Pickering Lodge #446 F&AM, Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #851, Elkton, and Eagle Yacht Club. Mr. Trego loved being with his family, and enjoyed boating, woodworking, and gardening. Earl Covar Cecil, 81 of Elkton, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Elkton Transitional Care Center, Elkton.
Born in Princeton, WV on June 13, 1935, he was the son of the late Leo and Minnie (Hall) Cecil. Mr. Cecil served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he began working as a carpenter. Over the years, he worked for many area builders. He enjoyed hunting, fishing (trout), NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt and feeding the squirrels. Most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Harold (Hal) Arthur Flood, 82, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. A devoted husband to the late Elizabeth Jayne (Theetge) Flood for 51 years until her passing in 2005 and son of Frank Scott Flood and Alice Elizabeth (Hawley) Flood, Hal was born in Sayre, PA January 25, 1934.
Hal was baptized, confirmed and married at the Church of the Redeemer in Sayre, PA, where he and Elizabeth were members for many years before moving away. Hal served proudly in the United States Army, Pfc(T) on active duty from 1953-1955 where he received a National Defense Service Medal as well as a medal for good conduct. He then served on the Army reserves until 1961, where he was honorably discharged from standby reserves. After his years in the military, Hal went on to a distinguished career that started with RCA in Camden, NJ, where he performed electronic designs for radios, TVs, and the Apollo space missions. He spent the next 25 years with the DuPont Company where he served as their manager of Human Resources until his retirement in 1994. He spent the final years of his working career as the Global Director of Human Resources for SouthCo and then had his second and final retirement in 1999. Hal and Elizabeth spent many joyful years together in NJ (from Collingswood to Stratford) and Newark, DE, eventually moving to their log home near North East, MD in 1988. Liz and Hal relished in the joy of their three children, Victoria Elizabeth Gilley (spouse, Bob Gilley) of Chesapeake City, MD; Rebecca Jayne Flood (spouse, the Late Rev. Dr. Maurice Wilson) of Costa Mesa, CA and Andrew T. Flood (spouse, Janice Flood) of North East, MD. They shared ten wonderful grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren who will all miss their Poppy. Hal had a big heart and shared openly with his family as well as those with whom he worked. He was a devoted member of Holy Trinity (Collingwood, NJ), St. James Episcopal Church (Millcreek, DE) where he served as the lay minister to the children’s service for over two decades and throughout his time at St. James he served on the vestry, including Senior Warden and chaired construction and renovations to both the parish hall and church. He and Elizabeth more recently attended St. Mary Anne’s Episcopal Church (North East, MD) where he again served on the vestry and as Senior Warden. He also helped train the Acolytes at all three churches. Vivian Angela Parker, 89 of North East, MD, died Saturday, January 7, 2017 at home. Born in Providence, RI, on October 17, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Ida (DeCesaris) Celani. Mrs. Parker, a homemaker, was a member of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Post 6027. She is survived by her daughter: Donna M. Zane of Rising Sun, MD; and grandchildren: Amanda, T.J. and Parker. Raymond Wesley Bartram, Jr., 82 of Elkton, MD, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on May 7, 1934, he was the son of the late Raymond Wesley Bartram Sr. and the late Laura (Raker) Bartram. Mr. Bartram served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Leeds & Northrop, Fischer & Porter, and Moore Products as a manufacturing engineer. Mr. Bartram enjoyed crabbing and boating. He was known as a “jack of all trades” and especially enjoyed carpentry work. Ronald “Ronnie” G. Hemrick, Sr., 67, of Bear, DE, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, January 5, 2017. Born on September 26, 1949 in Hendersonville, NC, he was the son of Carl and Helen (Suttles) Steppe.
Ronnie was a Veteran of the US Army where he served in Vietnam. He then went on to work for Henkels & McCoy, Inc. in Rising Sun, MD, retiring in 1991 after 20 plus years of service. Throughout his life, Ronnie invested in real estate – buying, selling, and renting out properties. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling to Stone Harbor, NJ and Ocean City, MD. Ronnie loved playing computer games and learning about military history, but his greatest joys in life came from time spent with his family, including his beloved dog, Tucker. |
