Robert C. Sage, Sr., 72, of Peach Bottom PA, passed away on January 5, 2016. He was the husband of Deborah Sheets Sage. They had been together for over 46 years. Born in Grayson County, VA, a son of the late V. Clarence and Ethel Clyde Duvall Sage. Robert had retired after 30 years as a heavy equipment mechanic with Cedar Hill Quarrys. Robert was an avid car enthusiast. He was a member of the Recycled Teenage Cruisers car club, and enjoyed traveling to attend car shows. Robert attended Wrightsdale Baptist Church. Barbara Ann Woods of Oxford, Pa. died January 1, 2016 at her home. She was 73.
She lived in Oxford for her entire life and was known as a gifted piano teacher and maker of exquisite woodworking arts. Ms. Woods was a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church. She was an avid lover of music and the arts. Charles Oscar Weir, 77 yrs, of North East, MD, died Monday, January 4, 2016 at the V.A. Maryland Healthcare System of Perry Point, MD. Born August 25, 1938 in Oxford, PA, he was the son of the late George Wilson and Laura Jane Riner Weir.
Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and is survived by his son, James Weir of Rising Sun, MD; one granddaughter, Lennay Weir; sisters, Patricia Lee Rose and Jane Marie Hess. Ryan Thomas Casteel of Rising Sun went into the arms of Jesus on January 4, 2016. He was 5 years old. Ryan was born on September 10, 2010 in Bel Air, MD. He was the son of Nathan Casteel and Alexandra Casteel (step-mother), of Colora, MD. Bethanie Cornette of Rising Sun. He attended school at Rising Sun Elementary. He attended Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and Janes United Methodist Church. He loved SpongeBob, Thomas the Train, Super Heroes, Halloween, and mostly dressing up in costumes. Joan Elizabeth Kepler, 81 of North East, MD, died Thursday, December 24, 2015 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE. Born in Chester, PA, on August 3, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Joseph and Anna Pasco. Joan, who retired as a CNA, enjoyed gardening, reading, entering sweepstakes, day trips with the North East and Elkton Senior Citizens, classical music, photography and being an" Armchair Detective”. She especially enjoyed her time with her children and grandchildren. Martha Lorraine Allred (Lorraine) passed away on December 22, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Lorraine was born on August 24, 1935 in Barnsley, PA to the late J. Curtis Gambill and Amanda Brooks Gambill, and was the youngest of 12 children. Lorraine grew up in Zion and went to school at Calvert, then graduated from Rising Sun High School in 1953. She went on to graduate from Goldey-Beacom School of Business in 1954. She worked for a number of companies including: DuPont Company, National Bank of Rising Sun, and USPS as a Postmaster where she retired in 1992. Lorraine was a member of Janes United Methodist Church for 43 years where she was active in many church groups. Additionally, she was a member of the Southern Sidekicks for many years. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, dancing, Gambill family reunions, and traveling. She traveled to many countries and all 50 states, and in particular, she enjoyed visiting the National Parks and Presidential libraries. John Pratt Wright, age 69, of Aberdeen, MD passed away surrounded by friends and family on January 2, 2016. John was born in Coatesville, PA to the late Harry W. Wright and Mildred P. Wright. John founded The Bargaineer newspaper in the mid 1970’s, serving Harford and Cecil County, MD. After building and operating a successful newspaper, John sold The Bargaineer to the Chesapeake Publishing Company and then continued his life-long passion as an antique collector/picker, staying true to his entrepreneuring spirit. Additionally, he enjoyed boating, fishing, photography, and spending time in the Florida Keys. John was a long time member of Rotary International with his home club location in Aberdeen, MD. He loved spending time with his family, especially his nine grandchildren. Joseph Dale Allen went home to be with his heavenly father on January 4th, 2016 after suffering from a long chronic illness. His loving wife, Elsie Jean Reed, and his children took care of him and were by his side during his journey. He had been surrounded by family and friends during his battle who dearly loved him and will greatly miss him. Mr. Allen was born on November 16, 1956 in Penn Yan, New York. He was the son of Rev. James Allen and Ruby Faye Allen. His father was founder and pastor of the Fellowship Baptize Church in Elkton, MD. Mr. Allen grew up in church singing and playing music. He was predeceased by his loving parents. He is survived by his two brothers, Terry Allen of Tennessee and James Allen of Rising Sun, MD. He was a lifelong resident of Cecil County, MD. Mr. Allen served in the U.S. Navy from 1974 through 1977 at Long Beach, CA. He was honorably discharged and then transferred to the Naval Reserve and served from 1977-1988. While in Long Beach, CA, he married Robin and they had a set of twins, Robert and Cindy Allen, who survive him. He later divorced and returned to Maryland. Jason Edward Hughes, 41 yrs, of Rising Sun, MD, died Friday, January 1, 2016 in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center of Bel Air, MD. Born February 11, 1974 in Havre de Grace, MD, he was the son of Jack E. and Brenda Ironside Hughes of Rising Sun, MD, and the grandson of Mary Barker Ironside.
Jason was a member of Good Shepherd Parish of Perryville, MD, and was employed as a Field Technician by CBIZ Network Solutions of St. Louis, MO. Jason is survived by his loving wife, Christina Vann Hughes of Rising Sun, MD; daughters, Caitlyn M. Siembab and Julia N. Hughes both of Rising Sun, MD. Jessie Fern Winebarger, 92 of Elkton, MD, died Friday, January 1, 2016 at home. Born in West Jefferson, NC, on January 21, 1923, she was last of the 14 children of the late Rudy and Mary (Spears) Hamby. She was the wife of the late Marvin Franklin Winebarger who preceded her in death on August 1, 2003. Jessie was a homemaker, formerly employed by RMR, Triumph and Ordinance. She was a member of Charlestown Missionary Baptist Church, Charlestown, MD. She enjoyed reading and riding around. She also enjoyed cleaning her house, and perfected the “Wipe and Swipe”. |
