Dawn Marie George, 55, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away unexpectedly September 6, 2015 at her home. Dawn is survived by her husband of 33 years, James “Chris” George of Rising Sun; two sons, Nathaniel C. George and Nicholas C. George. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Marge Bryson. Frank Anderson Birney of North East died September 6, 2015. He was 88. He was born in Elkton on November 11, 1926 to the late David Paul Birney & Bessie Birney. Mr. Birney was a self-employed truck driver from 1963 to 1991. He is survived by his cousins, David Paul Birney of North East, Walter Birney or Elkton, and Lawrence Birney of Elkton; sister in laws, Della Mae Birney of Elkton, and Hazel Birney of Newark, Del.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A service honoring his life will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, September 11, at R. T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main Street, Elkton. Family and friends may visit starting at 10 a.m. Norma T. Stidoms, of Elkton died at home Saturday, September 5, 2015. She was 90.
Born in Hillsville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Lula Rebecca Pugh Harden. She was employed with Walmart as a greeter and as a cashier for Rite Aid and Dollar Tree. She was a member of New Life Fellowship, Elkton, and formerly attended Apostolic Gospel Church, Kennett Square, Pa. George Nick Walters of North East died at home Thursday, September 3, 2015. He was 59. A lifelong resident of Cecil County, he was born in Elkton on August 28, 1956, the son of the late Henry and Sarah (Fostick) Walters. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a cement finisher. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing and telling great stories. He is survived by his wife, Donna Marie Walters; two sons, Nicholas Walters and his two children, Nicholas and RayLynne of Port Deposit, Dustin Walters, his wife Ashley and their two children, Ava and Liam of Rising Sun; a sister, Betty Mae Walters Hill of Great Mills; a niece, Stacy Walters Moody; and his lifelong friend, Randy Miller. Services are private. Charles Clifford “Cliff”. Ulary of Wilmington, Del., formerly of North East, died at home Friday, September 4, 2015. He was 90. Born in North East on March 7, 1925, he was the son of the late Louis B. and Ida Amanda (Arrants) Ulary. Mr. Ulary grew up in Elk Neck, attending Hart's School and North East High School. During World War II he entered the US Army Air Force. After the war he worked at Hill Air Force Base, UT and Aberdeen Proving Ground. Mr. Ulary and his family members belonged to Hart's Methodist Church in Elk Neck for generations. He lived in North East most of his life moving to Wilmington in 2005. He was known for his wit and generosity. Mr. Ulary enjoyed carpentry as a hobby. Delphia Dene Dodson of North East died Friday, September 4, 2015. She was 61.
Born June 29, 1954 in Elkton, she was the daughter of Elbert T. Miller, Sr., and the late Delphia Mae (Tiller) Miller. Mrs. Dodson enjoyed gardening, cooking, and caring for her family members. She is survived by her husband, Larry Dodson; son, John Rice and his wife, Angela; daughter, Jessica Dodson; and her father, Elbert T. Miller Sr. A service will be held in her honor at 11 a.m. Friday, September 11, at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 35 Sylmar Rd., Rising Sun, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Rosebank Cemetery. Minnie O. McDilda, 74 of Elkton, MD, died Tuesday, September 1, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Morgantown, WV, on May 4, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Dale Tennant and Helen (Moore) Varner. She was the wife of the late Kenneth E. McDilda, Sr. She was a homemaker and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. Jean Marie Fisher of Jacksonville, Florida, died Monday, August 24, at Community Hospice. She was 84. Born in St. Augustine, Florida, on January 30, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Cranston and Lessie Hankins. She was employed by F. W. Woolworth for 33 years as head bookkeeper. She is survived by Wilmer Kurtz Bird Fisher, her husband of 67 years, one sister, Nita Alls (Kenneth), her daughters, Vicki Bargainnier (Barry), Cindy Lundy (Tim), four granddaughters, and four great-grand children. She loved her church and church family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren, always preparing wonderful meals. |
