Rose Ann Price of North East died Wednesday, September 16, 2015 in the Seasons Hospice Unit at Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. She was 68.
Born in Port Deposit on June 24, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Freel H. and the late Frances V. (McCloud) Hayes. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Price was a nursing assistant at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center and Citizens Nursing Home, Havre de Grace. John Settle Bradley Jr. of Elkton died Tuesday, September 15, 2015. He was 38.
He was born in Fayetteville, N.C. May 9, 1977, son of John S. Bradley Sr. (Sue) of Havre de Grace, Mary Ellen Kline Cleveland (Tim), and Richard Cleveland IV of Elkton. Mr. Bradley had been a security systems installer, was a licensed pyrotechnician, and enjoyed working at Milburn Orchards. He enjoyed spending time with his family and helping others. Mr. Bradley was an active member of Singerly Fire Company for 21 years, serving with the fire police. Kay Preston McGlothlin of Perryville died at home Thursday, September 10, 2015. She was 74. She was the daughter of the late Idella Reynolds Preston and William “Bus” Preston of North East. She was a 1956 graduate of North East High School, than went to college at West Chester University graduating in 1963 with a BS in music education. She taught middle school English and music for several years in Havre de Grace, than became an advertising representative for The Upper Shoreman magazine. Walter C. "Buddy" Given, Jr. died September 14, 2015. He was 85 He was born February 24, 1930 in Louisa, VA., son of the late Walter C. Given, Sr. and the late Margarite (McNabb) Given. Mr. Given loved gardening, antique shows and was a “best friend’ to many people. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church, Elkton. He is survived by his former wife, Audrey Given; a son, Richard Borden and wife Lyn; and daughter, Deborah Borden; a nephew, Robby Given; a brother, Jackie Given; sister, Anna Mae Heath and daughters, Susie and Sally; and a niece, Nancy Ward. Diana Lynn Shawkey-Blythe of Harford County died Thursday, September 10, 2015 in Harford Memorial Hospital of Havre de Grace. She was 65.
Born April 30, 1950 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Lewis T. Cook and the late Betty Jane Gress Cook. Bessie Morrison Williams of Conowingo died September 11, 2015. She was 90.
Born April 16, 1925 in Rowlandsville, she was the daughter of the late Leroy G. Morrison and Eva J. Jennings Morrison. Mrs. Williams enjoyed her family, reading and watching NASCAR. Harry Claude Smith of Columbia, S.C., formerly of Elkton, died Friday, September 11, 2015. He was 82.
Born in Paulsboro, N.J., he was the son of the late Harry Smith and Marion Adamson Smith. Mr. Smith worked as a millwright at DuPont for 38 years. He was a Navy veteran and was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. Joshua W.L. Hodge of Elkton died Wednesday, September 9, 2015. He was 36.
Born in Havre de Grace on January 10, 1979, he was the son of Jerry Hodge of North East and the late Rosa (Soots) Hodge Sharrard. Mr. Hodge was a carpenter who enjoyed fishing, camping, outdoors, and music. Ernest Lane Botts of Middletown, Del., died at his daughter's home in Newark, Del. on Tuesday, September 8, 2015. He was 79. Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late James Ernest and Marion Jones Botts. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Botts was employed with Chrysler for 33 years. He was a member of Hiram Lodge #25 A.F. & A.M of Newark, Delaware. Mr. Botts enjoyed hunting, skiing, camping and walking in the Christiana Mall. Virginia Richards Fineran of Rising Sun died September 8, 2015, at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center. She was 93.
Born in Colora, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Thomas and Alice Tosh Richards. Following her graduation from James Madison University, Mrs. Fineran taught for four years at the Tome School and for 28 years at Rising Sun Elementary School. |
