Audrey Harwi Hankins, 93 years, of Pylesville, MD, formerly of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in Dacota Broadcreek Assisted Living of Whiteford, MD. Born February15, 1924 on Mt. Ararat Farm of Port Deposit, MD, she was the daughter of the late Wilbert R. and Marietta Baker Harwi.
Audrey is a graduate of Perryville High School, Perryville, MD. She enjoyed playing Bridge or card games of any type. She was an avid quilter and a long time member of the Aiken Homemakers working on quilts in fellowship and making lap quilts for the Perryville veterans. She enjoyed painting (watercolors and tole)and flower gardening. She loved seeing her spring daffodils, crocus, tulips and hyacinths bloom. Audrey traveled with the Madonna AARP group and her favorite trip with the group was to Ireland. She was a member of Port Deposit Heritage and worked to preserve the history of Port Deposit. Audrey had a sweet tooth and loved to bake cakes, cookies and other treats. She was extremely fond of dogs, especially her black lab, Pepper. Michael Philip Jepsen, age 53, of Rising Sun, MD passed away on April 12, 2017. Michael was born in Jakarta, Indonesia on September 20, 1963.
Michael grew up in Copenhagen, Denmark where he was a chef in the hotel industry. In 1997 he moved to the United States and continued working as a chef at the Fair Hill Inn in Fair Hill, MD. Michael studied at Harvard University and received his Master’s Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, he was also fluent in seven languages. Michael was then employed by Oracle America Inc. as a computer engineer focusing on software management for the hotel industry. Michael enjoyed his involvement in the activities at The Church of the Nazarene especially preparing the food for their many activities. He loved his family and was very involved in the raising of his three granddaughters. Betty Christine Weamer, 84 years, of Conowingo, MD, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in Harford Memorial Hospital of Havre de Grace, MD. Born January 4, 1933 in Perryville, MD, she was the daughter of late Lester and Elsie Barrow Hickman. Betty worked for RM&R and the V.A. Medical Center of Perry Point, MD, where she retired to become a homemaker. Betty attended Good Shepherd Catholic Church of Perryville, MD. Every night Betty and John loved to pray the rosary. Her family was her world, especially her four sons and grandchildren. Betty enjoyed flowers and especially enjoyed her cat, Tiger. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 40+ years, John Weamer of Conowingo, MD; sons, Ed Rozek and wife, Linda, of Conowingo, MD, Neil Rozek and wife, Lisa, also of Conowingo, MD, Allen Rozek and wife, Betty, of Rising Sun, MD, John Barclay and wife, Christine, of Elkton, MD; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and cousins. Donna Marie Young, 38 of Rogersville, TN, formerly of North East, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017. She was born in Elkton, MD, on October 23, 1978. Survivors include one daughter: Alyssa Young of North East, MD; her mother: Donna L. Wood of Charlestown, MD; her father: Wayne Young and his wife, Becky of North East, MD; three sisters: Andrea Barker and her husband Nicholas of North East, MD, Barbara Barker and her husband Matthew of Elkton, MD and Jordyn Yedinak of North East, MD. Norman Scott, 78 of North East, MD, died Saturday, April 8, 2017 in his home.
Born in Silver Spring, MD, on June 17, 1938, he was the son of Louis Clarence and Ruth (Montgomery) Scott and grew up in Washington, DC. He joined the Air Force in 1955 where he was a member of the Air Force Band, playing the saxophone. A graduate of Evangel College and the University of Baltimore Law School, he worked as a Criminal Defense Attorney in Philadelphia. Norman, a history buff who enjoyed reading, was a member of St. Mary Anne’s Episcopal Church, where he was a Lay Reader and served on the Vestry. He was a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, the Brehon Law Society and also recently served on the Board of Directors of Cecil County Library. On Wednesday, March 22, 2017, Thomas Lee (Tom) Beale passed away at his daughter's home in Oregon. Please join the family in services on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 10:30am at Lampeter United Methodist Church, Lampeter, PA. Burial will follow at 2:30pm in Hopewell Cemetery near Port Deposit, MD.
Travis Earl Rodecker, 27 years, of Port Deposit, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 7, 2017 in Havre de Grace. Born May 20, 1989 in Havre de Grace, he was the son of Ronald Joseph Rodecker, Jr. and Mary Louise Abrams Miller. Travis was employed as a concrete finisher by Industrial Caulk & Seal of Delta, PA. He had a passion for skateboarding since he was a young boy and loved traveling to all the local skate parks with his skate buddies. He also loved whipping things up in the kitchen, but his greatest love was spending time with his son. If you met him, you loved him. He had a passion for life and a huge heart for everyone. Debra "Susan" McGlothlin of Conowingo, MD, age 62, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017. She was born on January 31, 1955 in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD to Carol "Jean" (Reeves) McGlothlin and the late Warren Hassel McGlothlin. Susan enjoyed traveling throughout the world. She restored the Sears & Roebuck House where she resided until her passing. Susan worked for the Federal Government for over 39 years as and industrial hygienist before retiring in 2014. Freddie Kleiner, 34, of Imperial Beach, CA, died Sunday, April 2, 2017. The son of Fred and Linda Kleiner of North East, MD, Freddie was born on December 11, 1982. A graduate of The Tome School, Freddie received a music scholarship and attended UMBC. In 2009, he moved to Imperial Beach where he worked for TJP Engineering as an IT Specialist/Drafter. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sisters: Sara Julian, Leesburg, VA; Kathryn Meredith and husband Charles, Middletown, DE; Emilie Kleiner, Baltimore; his nephews: Jacob and Matthew Meredith; his beloved cat KiKi, and many good friends between Maryland and California. He enjoyed an eclectic variety of music, played piano, sang, and taught himself drums and guitar. Many remember him as a musical genius. He loved to learn new things, and that resulted in many self-taught accomplishments and passions, including competitive billiards, cutting-edge software, cooking, wellness, and philosophy. He researched alternative treatments for Parkinson’s Disease in order to lovingly support his father. Eleanor Mae Hrubesh of Port Deposit, MD, age 85, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 9, 2017. She was born on December 25, 1931 in Port Deposit, MD to the late William Thomas Duff, Sr., and Ruth Elizabeth (Felpel) Duff. Eleanor loved music, dancing, spending time with her family and friends and sitting by the Susquehanna River. During her life, Eleanor thrived on balancing family and career. In the early years, she was hired as one of the first group of female barrack clerks with the MD State Police at the Conowingo barrack from September 1953 until September 1955. After raising her family, she returned to the work force in many administrative positions such as The Baptist Book Store in Lutherville; Backer, Spielvogel, & Bates advertising in Bel Air; Fallston General Hospital in the Physical Therapy Department, and finally in her early 70's, retiring from Cook Motor Cars in Aberdeen. During the later years, she continued to stay active with different church organizations, and volunteering at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, MD. |
