Manly Martin Pierce of Rising Sun, MD, age 75, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017. He was born in Elkton, MD on April 16, 1942 to the late Jake Pierce and Lora (Abrams) Pierce. Manly worked for 31 years at General Motors. During that time he was also a union representative for General Motors. Manly was a Little League commissioner in Rising Sun. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, cooking, playing horseshoes, mowing the grass and listening to his CB radio “Twin Daddy”. Manly found his greatest joy in spending time with his beloved family. Clyde Emery (Bo) Sinclair, Sr., 90, of Perryville, MD, passed away at home on April 17, 2017. Mr. Sinclair was born October 12, 1926 in Perryville, MD, the son of John and Myrtle Sinclair. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from civilian service at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. Mr. Sinclair was a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Susquehanna Masonic Lodge No. 130; Perryville Volunteer Fire Department; and Perryville American Legion No. 135. Mr. Sinclair is survived by two sons, Clyde Emery Sinclair, Jr., and wife Cathy of Perryville, MD, and Bruce Thomas Sinclair and wife, Susan of Abingdon, MD; five grandchildren, Lora Biddle, Port Deposit, MD, Scott Sinclair, Christen Sinclair, both of Perryville, MD, Sean Sinclair, Gulport, MS, and Christine Apolenis, Mt. Airy, MD; eight great-grandchildren, Katharine, Emma, and Brianna Biddle, Port Deposit, MD; Andrew Sinclair, Perryville, MD; Brannon Sinclair, Gulport, MS; and Madison, Caroline and Cameron Apolenis, Mt. Airy, MD. He is also survived by a brother, Wayne Sinclair and wife, Doris of Perryville, MD; and many nieces and nephews. Lucille Elizabeth Sadler Price, 79 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away late Monday evening, April 17, 2017 at her home. Born March 28, 1938 in Elkton, MD, she was the daughter of the late James T. and Mabel Warner Sadler.
Mrs. Price was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit, MD, where she was in charge of all funeral meals at the church. She was also a member of the PVBC Senior Coffee Group and a member of the PVBC Choir. She was formerly employed by the V.A. Maryland Health Care System of Perry Point, MD. Mrs. Price is survived by her one son, James L. Sadler, Jr. of Port Deposit, MD; and one brother Allan R. Sadler. Delmer Claude Price, 86 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 in North East, MD. Born December 2, 1930 in Chilhowie, VA he was the son of the late Victor and Rosetta Walls Price.
Mr. Price was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit, MD. He was formerly employed by Chrysler of Newark, DE, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Price is survived by his sons, Ricky Claude Price of Port Deposit, MD, and Michael Allen Price of Darlington, MD; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Mr. Price’s loving wife, Lucille Elizabeth Bennett Price, passed away the evening of the same day, Monday, April 17, 2017; and his brothers, Leaman Price, Lawrence Price, Burley Price, Harry Price, Howard Price and Teddy Price. Howard David Reed, 87 years, of Port Deposit, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017 at his home. Born December 19, 1929 in Conowingo, MD, he was the son of the late Elmer David and Pearl McCullough Reed.
Mr. Reed was a member of the Nottingham Missionary Baptist Church of Oxford, PA, and a former truck driver employed by Gilbert of Havre de Grace, MD. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of the USS Saipan Cvl 48 Association, and a member of the Susquehanna American Legion Post No. 135 of Perryville, MD. Julia June Smith, 92 years, of Perryville, MD, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017 at her home. Born December 5, 1924 in Johnson City, TN, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Cook Johnston.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Christian Church of Havre de Grace, MD, and formerly employed as a Records Manager by the Aberdeen Proving Ground of Aberdeen, MD. She is survived by her son, James Smith of Rockville, MD; daughters, Patty Karwacki of Port Deposit, MD, and Kathy Bowlin of Owings, MD; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Ronald Dean Corron, 66, of North East, MD passed away on April 13, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was affectionately known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren.
Born in Clifton Forge, VA, he was the son of Richard Lee and Frances Lee (Osborne) Corron. He graduated from North East High School in 1969. Ronald married his high school sweetheart Catherine Bowden on October 24, 1970. They were married for 46 years, 5 months and 19 days. She deserves a medal, but says he was the best thing that ever happened to her. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball, pitching horse shoes, camping, and coaching his son’s little league teams. Later in life he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and tormenting his nieces and nephews. Minnie Bell Gilbert, 77 of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in the Chester County Hospital, West Chester, PA.
She was born in Wilmington, DE, on August 7, 1939 and was co-owner of Pleasant Hill Store. While raising her children, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years at Calvert Nursing Home. Minnie enjoyed reading Amish Books, watching Fox news and was an avid birdwatcher, especially enjoying her hummingbirds. But most important of all to her, was her family. She loved each and every one dearly and made sure she mailed cards every holiday to her children and grandchildren. She was the most loving wife and mother anyone could ever ask for. Edward Andrew Oikemus, Sr., 75 of North East, MD, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in the Union Hospital, Elkton, MD.
Born in Gardner, MA, on December 25, 1941, he was the son of W. W. Oikemus and Aili Fisk Oikemus Jones. He retired as a diesel mechanic from Pepsi in Havre de Grace, MD. Eddie was a member of the Strasburg Rail Road Museum and also enjoyed Drag Racing and Steam Trains. Mildred Carol Tyndall, 75 of Conowingo, MD, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Union, WV, on April 9, 1942, she was the daughter of the late John Buford and Juanita Otella (McDonald) Dowdy. Milly had strong faith in Jesus and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She adored her beloved dog, Buster. She also enjoyed reading her Bible. Survivors include her children: Ron Meadows (Natasha) of Dundalk, MD, Mike Tyndall of Aberdeen, MD, Steve Tyndall (Jennifer) of Elkton, MD and Donna Ingerson (Gary) of Conowingo, MD; 3 siblings: Lorraine Polk-Miller of FL, Barry Dowdy of Middle River, MD, Joan Strandquist of New Freedom, PA; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. |
