The Solanco JV softball team opened the season by outscoring its first three opponents by a combined 65-10. The Mules topped rival Elizabethtown 18-3 in three innings last Thursday. Allison McDowell earned the win with help from her defense. Solanco's offense produced 16 hits. "It was another game where we did an outstanding job at the plate and attacking the ball," coach Chad McDowell said. "Right now we are really seeing the ball well." Lindsay Lane went 3 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs. Alyssa Henretty singled three times.
Allison McDowell collected two doubles and four RBIs. Brianna Firlein was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Kaitlyn Borcky supplied two singles and two stolen bases. Sarah Frawley singled twice. Molly Chew belted a grand slam. Solanco romped to a win over Conestoga Valley in three innings last Wednesday. Borcky earned the win with five strikeouts and two walks. "Kaitlyn used great command inside the circle," Chad McDowell said. "She did a nice job moving the ball through the strike zone." Allison McDowell had three hits including a home run and six RBIs. Borkcy registered three hits and five RBIs. Chew chipped in three hits and four RBIs. Lane added three hits and two RBIs. Kaitlyn Dobinson had two hits and two RBIs. Maddison Pluck provided two hits including a double and three RBIs. Solanco upended Ephrata 17-7 in five innings in the opener Monday, March 30. Allison McDowell recorded 12 strikeouts and walked five. Firlein was 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. Borcky supplied two hits, a stolen base, and an RBI. Randi Rambo doubled in a run. Frawley had an RBI single and Chew added a single and two RBIs. Ephrata had jumped on top with three runs in the first inning. The Mules lost to Ephrata in the lone meeting last season.
