William C. "Bert" Patchell, of North East, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Abbey Manor Assisted Living in Elkton. He was 85. Mr. Patchell was a lifelong resident of Cecil County, born in North East on February 8, 1929, son of the late William Thomas and the late Mary C. Nickle Patchell. He served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He retires from Aberdeen Proving Ground where he worked in the Finance Department. Mr. Patchell enjoyed pool, bowling and especially playing cards, but hated to lose. He loved to eat. The greatest enjoyment he had in life was the love he shared with his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and the time he spent with them.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Chester and Marjorie Patchell, of North East; his niece, Dana Krauss, of North East; two nephews, Kenneth Patchell, of Lynchburg, VA and Tracey Patchell, of North East; five great-nieces, Brianne Friberg, Jennie Patchell, Kristine Woodworth, Brooke Krauss and Taylor Krauss; two great nephews, Shaun Patchell and Michael Patchell; and his great-great nephew, Keenan Friberg. Friends can call at the Crouch Funeral Home in North East on Saturday, April 19 from 1 to 2 p.m. Services will be held immediately following at 2 p.m. with Rev. Brian Friberg officiating. Burial will be in North East Methodist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the North East VFW in care of the funeral home. Comments are closed.
