William “Bill” Abel of North East died at home Friday, January 23, 201. He was 68. Born in Olean, N.Y., on March 26, 1946, he was the son of the late John Abel III and LaVerne (Bowlsbey) Abel. Mr. Abel enjoyed hot rods, drag racing and collecting Studebakers. He retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground as a model maker in the Ordinance Division. He also served in the Maryland National Guard from 1964 to 1971. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Abel Wood of Colora, and son: Sean William Abel of Bel Air; sister, Lois Abel Krewinghaus of Calvert; brother, John Abel IV of North East; and grandchildren, Alexandria, Nicholas, Alexandra, Chloe, and Logan.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his companion, Nancy Lines, who died in 2013. Family and friends may call Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 2-4 p.m.and 6-8 p.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East.
