Walter E. Trego, age 77, of Fair Hill, MD, passed away at home on Monday, January 9, 2017, surrounded by his family. Born in Upper Uwchlan Township, PA, on August 3, 1939, he was the son of the late Absalom L. and Mabel Garvine Trego. Mr. Trego retired from the Cecil County Government Roads Division. He was a life member of William M. Singerly Steam Fire Engine & Hook & Ladder Company No. 1, where he served on the Board of Directors, as an engineer and station captain, and was very active in the fire prevention program. Other memberships included life member of the Lionville Fire Company, St. John's United Methodist Church, Elkton, Mt. Pickering Lodge #446 F&AM, Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #851, Elkton, and Eagle Yacht Club. Mr. Trego loved being with his family, and enjoyed boating, woodworking, and gardening. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Nancy Ewing Trego; daughters, Alice M. Moore (Michael), Nancy Kay Trego, and Holly Trego, all of Elkton, MD; granddaughters, Kristin Marie Moore, Sara E. Parks (Thomas), and Alice Michelle Moore; and great-grandson, Nolan Parks. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Aline Schaible, Dot Trego, and Shirley Trego; and nieces and nephews, Scott, Cheryl, Harold, Bill, LouAnn, Frank, Alan, Bill, and Mike.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Trego was preceded in death by his brothers, John "Jack" Trego and Harold Trego. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Singerly Fire Hall, 300 Newark Avenue, Elkton, MD, where visitation will begin at 12 Noon.
