Vernon D. Dalgarn, of Elkton, died on Friday, May 9, 2014. He was 87. Mr. Dalgarn was born in Camden, NJ, on April 9, 1927, son of the late Vernon M. and Frances Carey Dalgarn. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He retired from General Motors Corporation in Wilmington, DE, as a trainer after 37 years of service. Mr. Dalgarn was a member of VFW Post #8175, American Legion Cecil Post #15, both in Elkton, and Rogue's Harbor Hunting Club, North East. He was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating.
Mr. Dalgarn is survived by his son, Richard Dalgarn and wife, Cathy, and their daughter, Tina, all of Elkton; grandson, Keith Dalgarn and wife, Jen, and their children Madison Kay and Adam Keith; sisters, Florence A. Korup and Mary R. Consiglio, both of Newark, DE; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dalgarn was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Marcella H. Dalgarn; a son, Vernon Keith Dalgarn and brother Francis Dalgarn. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 14 at Immaculate Conception Church in Elkton at 11 a.m., with visitation in the church chapel from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Cherry Hill, with military honors by American Legion Mason-Dixon Post #194, Rising Sun, MD.
