Shirley A. Devine of Elkton died at home Saturday, December 12, 2015. She was 80. A lifelong resident of Cecil County, she was born on July 31, 1935, the daughter of the late Charles and Louise (Evans) Spratt. Mrs. Devine was a mail carrier for the Elkton Post Office for 34 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Elkton and was an avid walker and enjoyed gardening. Most of all she enjoyed her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her five children, Teresa Head and husband Randy of Elkton, Margaret Nutter and husband Frank of North East, Joseph Devine, Jacqueline Allen and Ann Possidente all of Elkton; two sisters, Genevieve Crouse of Fair Hill, Billie Jean Hubbard of Elkton; and her 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was the wife of Reuben Francis Devine who preceded her in death on January 24, 2014. A mass of Christian burial, conducted by Father Jim Yeakel, OSFS, will be held Wednesday, December 16, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 454 Bow Street, Elkton, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until service time.
