Sally Theresa George of Elkton died Monday, July 16, 2018, in Union Hospital, Elkton. She was 81. Born in Sewickley, Pa. on September 4, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Newell) Cannister. Throughout her career, Mrs. George worked in management and was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church, Elkton. She enjoyed sewing, watching Days of Our Lives, and candy. Sally had a green thumb, especially for growing beautiful African Violets and Orchids. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dennis George; four daughters, Vickie Eichler (Steve) of Elkton, Robin Weyandt (Rick) of North East, Mary Cannistraro (Gary) of Elkton, and Denise George (Dave) of New Castle, Del. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson; her siblings, Frank Cannister, Jr. of Leetsdale, Pa., Ethel Nowlin of North Hollywood, Cal., Harriet Lewis of Crescent Township, Pa., Dr. William Cannister of Bridgewater, Pa., Margaret Pobicki of New Castle, Del.; and multiple nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three siblings, James Cannister, Mary Hodan and Amelia Brush. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018, beginning at 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 454 Bow Street, Elkton, MD. A memorial mass will follow at 11.
