Ruby Brewer of Elkton died at home Wednesday, April 16, 2014. She was 77. Born, February 21, 1937 in Beckley, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Everett and Leatha Wickline. With the voice of an angel, Ruby brought joy to so many through song. Skilled with the guitar and banjo, she traveled regularly to play and sing at local senior centers and churches including the Grange Hall, Victor Villa and Calvert Manor. She cherished her time spent with her wonderful family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and being outside in nature.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard Clyde Brewer; four daughters and sons-in-laws, Debora and Steve Meranski, Diana and George Leffew, Daphney and Chuck Walker, Darla and John Gysling; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Including her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael. A service honoring her life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, where family and friends may visit beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Rosebank Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made payable to the Alfred I.
