Richard John Hartman of Colora died Sunday, January 18, 2015. He was 73. Born July 23, 1941 in Omaha, Nebraska, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Wiater) Hartman. He retired from the USN holding the rank of E7 as a Chief Operations Specialist where he proudly served for 22 years. He was a Vietnam veteran who received the National Defense Service medal, two Vietnam service medals, and the Armed Services Expeditionary medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 194. After his military career, Mr. Hartman went on to work for the Ford Motor Company which he enjoyed very much.
He loved spending time at home feeding and watching the animals and birds in the yard. He also enjoyed gardening, playing the lottery, and going to the casino. e was an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens, Orioles, and NASCAR. However, what Richard cherished most was spending time with his wonderful family and his time spent with his wife, Marcie. He especially enjoyed taking his family out and treating them to breakfast and Maryland crabs. He is survived by his wife, Marcella J. Hartman of Colora; daughters, Susan Lanphier of Rocky Hill, Conn. and Kathleen Goyette of Manchester, N.H.; brothers, Robert Hartman of Nebraska and Raymond Hartman of North Bend, Nebraska; sisters, Mary Lou Prokop of Omaha, Nebraska, and Barbara Mottl of Lincoln, Nebrska; “whatchamacallit” three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty; brother, William; and his beloved dog, Molly. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing hours per his request. Memorial contributions may be to the American Legion Post 194 and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S.
