Raymond Hunter Powers of Rising Sun died at home Friday, February 12, 2016. He was 93. Born in Tuckerdale, N.C.,, he was the son of the late George and Myrtle Powers. He was a maintenance worker at General Motors In Newark, Del., for 14 years, retiring in 1985 Mr. Powers was a Jack-of-all-trades. He could always be found working on cars or fixing something around the house. He was lovingly dubbed the family “energizer bunny”. For any job to be tackled, he would be unstoppable until it was finished. He is survived by his wife, Julia, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage; a son, Robert Powers of Newark, Del.; a daughter, Barbara Lovell of Coulterville, Cal.; step-daughter, Debra Ray of Cochranville, Pa.; and 11 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son, Tom Powers, two brothers, and six sisters. To honor his request, no services will be held. Comments are closed.
