Norman John Bannon, Jr. of Perryville died at home Friday, November 7, 2014. He was 85. Born October 19, 1929 in Port Deposit, he was the son of the late Norman J., Sr. and Margaret I. Bannon. Mr. Bannon was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served during the Korean War. He was a life member of the Jerry Skrivanek VFW Post No. 8185 of Port Deposit, and a member of the Susquehanna American Legion No. 135 of Perryville. He was a parishioner of Good Shepherd Parish having attended St. Teresa’s Catholic Church of Port Deposit.
He was a retired crane operator of the former Wiley Manufacturing Company of Port Deposit. Mr. Bannon enjoyed sports and fondly recalled playing football for the former Jacob Tome Institute and the Town of Port Deposit. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marie E. Narvell Bannon of Perryville; daughter, Donna Bannon Barr of Port Deposit; sons, Norman J. Bannon III and finance’, Chrisy Liddell, and Andrew M. Bannon and wife, Donna, all of Perryville; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and brother, Gene Paul Bannon of Conowingo. In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his son-in-law, David R. Barr, Jr. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 12, 2014, 1 p.m. at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2014, 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Deacon Luke Yackley of Good Shepherd Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Chapel Cemetery, Liberty Grove. Comments are closed.
