Nina Belle Armour, of North East, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at her daughter’s home in Mineral, Va. She was 83. Born in N.C., on December 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Calvin W. and the late Bessie (Miller) Sexton. She was the wife of Leon C. "Crabby" Armour, Sr., who preceded her in death as did her two sons, Leon C. Armour, Jr. and Douglas A. Armour. Mrs. Armour was a cook for many years at area restaurants, including The Chuck House, North East, Hollywood Diner, Elkton, and Weaver Steakhouse, Elkton. After her retirement, she spent the next 15 years babysitting the neighborhood children whom she loved very dearly.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Armour Roadcap (Lonnie) of Mineral, Va.; three sisters, Mary Wolfkill (Dave) of Chattanooga, Tenn., Ella Inman of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Wilma Seymour (George) of Charlottesville, Va.; five grandchildren: MaryJane Gilbert, Leon A. Armour (Stacey), Holly A. Crist, Dwayne Roadcap (Julie) and Daniel Roadcap (Katie); 12 great grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews who she was very close to. She is survived by all who called her mom and grandmom. She loved them all as children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, including two who were very close to her, a special son, Greg Walker and a special daughter, Paula Kennedy. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 26, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, where visitation will be held on Sunday evening, from 6-8 p.m. Burial will follow services in Ebenezer Cemetery, Rising Sun.
