Nancy Smith Briones of North East died Monday, April 6, 2015. She was 76. Born in Elkton on July 5, 1938, she was the daughter of the late William H. and the late Emma E. (Weicksel) Smith. She retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground after 24 years of service in Administration. Mrs. Briones was a member of North East United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, drawing, painting, music and reading about history. Most of all she loved her family and the time spent with them. She is survived by her children, Charles Briones (Ella) of Elkton, Daniel Briones of North East, and Lisa Hall (Randy) of Rising Sun; her granddaughter, Jamie Holland (Dan) of North East; two brothers: Scott Smith of North East, Lee Smith of Knoxville, Tenn.; three nephews: Randy Smith of North East, Matt Smith (Jessica) of Knoxville, Tenn., and Benjamin Smith (Kim) of Arizona.
She was the wife of the late ltc. Ronald S. Briones who died Aug. 3, 2007. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded by a nephew, Scott Smith, Jr. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 13, at 11 a.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, where the family will receive guests on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. Burial will follow services in North East Methodist Cemetery. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Seasons Hospice or the American Cancer Society, both in care of the funeral home. Comments are closed.
