Miriam Eleanor Butler of North East died Tuesday, November 3, 2015. She was 95. Born in Hooversville, Pa. on September 18, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Otho and the late Verna (Lape) Friend. Mrs. Butler was a telephone operator for C & P Telephone and a homemaker. She is survived by her grandchildren, David Butler of Elkton, and Sue Ellen Gold of North East; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Ellen Butler of Elkton; four great grandchildren, John, Tyler, Layla and Mary Ellen; four step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; one brother, Alden Friend of Cal.; two sisters, Barbara Helbig of Maryland, Catherine Mullen of Cal.; and her stepdaughter, Betty Joan Remai of Pittsburgh, Pa.
She was the wife of the late Wilbur “Wil” Butler for 54 years. He died in 1999. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her one son, John Wilbur Butler. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, 198 Appleton Road, Elkton. A memorial service will follow at noon at Glasgow Baptist Church, 3021 Old Country Road, Newark, Del.
