Michael Hunt Day of Earleville, formerly of Salisbury, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Elkton Union Hospital. He was 66. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late William G. Day and Jeanne Holloway Day Simpson. Mr. Day was a 1965 graduate of Wicomico Senior High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in Vietnam at the Cam Ranh Bay AFB. Following an honorable discharge, he returned to Salisbury where he attended Salisbury University, graduating in 1973 with a degree in accounting.
After his marriage to Roberta Clark, he moved first to Kent County and later to Cecil County where he worked for Sawyer Brothers for many years as an accountant. An active member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church, he also served as a vestry member and a lay Eucharistic minister. He is survived by a son, Edward Day, of Colorado Springs, Col.; a daughter Rebecca Day Smith, son-in-law, David Smith, two granddaughters, Kaidyn Treadway and Alivia Smith, of Shelby, N.C.; and a brother, William G. Day Jr., and his wife Trudy Day of Salisbury. A memorial service was held at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Earleville Friday, May, 24, 2013.
