Matthew Jay Bolte of North East died Sunday, June 14. He was 24. Born in Newark, Del., on January 6, 1991, he was the son of Dana Sample Bolte of North East and the late Monte J. Bolte. A U.S. Army veteran, he was an apprentice with S.J. Desmond Electrical, Wilmington, Del. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, skateboarding, all water sports, and baseball. In addition to his mother and her companion, Jack McIlhatton, survivors include his sister, Ashlyn Bolte and her fiance, Miguel Contreras Jr. of Rising Sun; maternal grandfather, James Sample Jr. and wife Marjorie; paternal grandparents Ralph Bolte Sr., and Joyce Fair and her husband Andrew; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Phyllis Sample. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, where visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be in Elkton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Matthew J.
