Marie Elena Ragan of Rising Sun died September 24, 2014 at Christiana Hospital. She was 73. Born in Lancaster County, Pa. on June 1, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Veryl Raymond and Ella Mae Duff Barr. She was a graduate of Solanco High School and recently retired from Delaware Cadillac where she worked as an administrative assistant. She loved people and enjoyed talking to everyone. She was a Jeff Gordon NASCAR fan. She enjoyed shopping and cheering for the Baltimore Orioles. She most enjoyed taking walks hand in hand with her husband. She was a devout Catholic, a member of Good Shepherd Parish and worshipped at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Above all, she was a compassionate person who dearly loved her family and always put them first.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Kenneth Laurence (Larry) Ragan, of Rising Sun; son Richard T. Ragan, his wife Pam of Conowingo; daughter Robin D. Waddell, her husband Keith of Rising Sun; grandchildren, Michael, his wife Kristelle, John, and Jeffery; great grandchildren Quin and Arlo; brothers, Raymond V. Barr, of Peach Bottom, Pa. and William E. Overly of Quarryville, Pa. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Henry and Sherman Overly and Chester Barr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Rising Sun on Thursday October 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. with a visitation at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
