Margaret M. Kennedy of Elkton died Tuesday, November 11, 2014, in the Abbey Manor Assisted Living, Elkton. She was 95. Born in Sparta, N.C., on January 11, 1919, she was the last of the nine children born to the late Charles C. and the late Margaret L. (Garvey) McMillan. All of the children were born in Sparta, and then the family moved to Landenberg, Pa., in the 1930s. There, they established a dairy farm business, which they farmed for 30 years. In 1934, she married Earl L. Kennedy, who died on Feb. 22, 1999.
She retired from Chrysler Corp. Parts Plant with 32 years of service working in the business office; and was also a member of the UAW. A member of Rock Church, she very much enjoyed attending all church functions. She was also a member of DAR; and enjoyed gardening, crocheting and bird feeding. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She is survived by two sons, F. Arland Kennedy of Rising Sun, and Rodney E. Kennedy of Calvert; seven grandchildren, Craig Kennedy, Todd Kennedy, Michael E. Kennedy, Karen Baker, Jennifer Silberzahns, Kristen Kennedy, Susan Ward; and 11 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Rock Church or Amedysis Hospice of Elkton, both in care of the funeral home.
