Manley (Junior) W. Merchant, Sr. of Perryville died February 17, 2015. He was 61. Born February 5, 1954 he was the son of the late Harry and Ruth Thomas Trego. Mr. Merchant was a member of the Sons of the American Legion of Perryville. He was employed by Tero Tek of Aberdeen Proving Ground and was also a carpenter. He loved volunteering his time umpiring for Perryville Little League. He was a Ravens and Orioles fan. He spent a lot of time at the 7-11 swapping stories with friends. He adored all his grandkids. He enjoyed walking his dogs, loved his cats, and fishing with his friend, Matt. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Donna Shelly Merchant; sons, Manley Merchant, Jr., and his wife, Michelle, and Mike Merchant; grandchildren, Jessica and Taylor Merchant, Kymberly and Kayla Merchant, Logan, Jaxon and Reed Merchant; sisters, Mary Jo Waddell (John), Delores Cavanaugh (Ken), Holly Charsha (Rusty), Jessie McKinney (Ed), Nancy Trego, Betty Trego (Jamie); brother, Howard (Steve) Merchant (Lula); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Donny Merchant; great grandson, Derek Donny McMahon; sister, Roberta (Punk) Merchant; and brother, Norman McCann. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, February 28, 5 p.m., at the Susquehanna American Post No. 135 of Perryville.
