Lucile “Georgia” Readdy Roach Gransky of Perryville died Friday, May 1, 2015 in Rock Spring Village Assisted Living Community of Forest Hill. She was 99. Born July 17, 1915 in Augusta, Ga., she was the daughter of the late George W. and Lillie Schuler Readdy. She was a veteran of the United States Navy WAVES having served during World War II. Following her discharge from the WAVES in 1946, she worked for Welfare and Recreation at the former Bainbridge Naval Training Center, she drove the bookmobile for the Cecil County Library, and worked for the V.A. Medical Center, Perry Point, MD, in the Clinical Lab and Surgical Research. Mrs. Gransky was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Perryville, a charter member of the Chesapeake Unit of WAVES National, a charter member of Women in Military Service for America, a member of Susquehanna Post No. 135 of Perryville, the Susquehanna Unit No. 145 American Legion Auxiliary, the Havre de Grace Chapter No. 27 Order of the Eastern Star, and the Aiken Homemakers.
She and her late husband, Frank, worked with handicapped Boy Scouts for over 20 years. They were awarded the National Torch of Gold from the National BSA, The Cecil District BSA Award of Merit, and the Silver Beaver and Bud Turner Awards for their work with Handicapped Scouts. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Joan Cembrola and husband, Orestes, of South Plainfield, NJ; Several nephews and one niece. She was preceded in death by her first husband, David R. Roach; second husband, Wojoech Frank Gransky; sisters, Marjorie Landrum and Dorothy Russell; brothers, George E. Readdy, Edward E. Readdy, and Frederick Readdy; Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, 11 a.m., at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Perryville. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2015, 6-8 p.m., at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A, Perryville, Rev. Patricia Drost of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Perryville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in care of Lee A.
