Lois Dale Russell, a lifelong resident of Cecil County, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Crumpton. She was 85. Born in Elkton on October 29, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Dorian Dale and the late Kathryn Louise (Simmons) Jamison. Mrs. Russell retired from the State of Maryland after 20 years of service in the Equity Dept. of the Clerk of the Court. She was a member of North East United Methodist Church, North East, where she taught Sunday School and the Elkton High School Alumni Association.
She enjoyed dancing with her husband, Bill, painting which she started at age 50, gambling with great success, bridge club, and spending winters in her Florida home. She is survived by her children, Susan D. Mercer and her husband Theodore L. Mercer, Jr. of Crumpton, and Steven T. Russell and his wife Pamela Sue Russell of Marion, Iowa; a sister, Nancy Mann of Elkton; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was the wife of the late William T. Russell, Jr. who died on Sept. 15, 2011. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, John Jamison. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Karen Bunnell, will be held Wednesday, November 27 at 11 a.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, where the family will receive guests beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery.
