Leon Cecil Alexander, Sr. of Elkton died Saturday, February 13, 2016 after a long illness. He was 57. Mr. Alexander earned an associate's degree from Cecil College. He then earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master's of Education degree from Wilmington University. Mr. Alexander worked as a guidance counselor at Perryville Middle School for 13 years. Prior to that, he worked for DuPont Company for 23 years. Within the community, he served on the Cecil County Board of Education and was past president. He was also a member of Singerly Fire Company where he served as fire police for many years. He was a member and longtime secretary for the Cecil County Fireman's Association. He is survived by his wife, Linda, and sons, Leon, Jr. and Jesse.
He is also survived by his sister, Rose and brothers, James, Clinton, Curtis, and Lester. He is also survived by his wife's parents, Lorenzo and Lena Cropper, brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Betsy Alexander and sisters, Betty, Loretta, Ada and brother, Larry. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 20 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Congo Funeral Home, 201 N. Gray Avenue, Wilmington, Delaware. Burial will be held in Leeds United Methodist Cemetery, Elkton.
