Laws Tiller, a lifelong county resident, died November 5, 2015. He was 93. He was born February 21,1922, son of the late Louise (Adams) and Benjamin Tiller. He was a longtime member of Reeds AUMP Church, North East. As a trustee and father of the church, he was a faithful member for many years until his illness. He was born and raised in Chesapeake City, where he attended school. Mr. Tiller served in the Army during World War II. He retired from Perry Point VA Hospital, Perry Point, where he worked as a chef and supervisor for over 30 years. He also had worked as the ramp manager for Anchor Marina, North East. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking and the Colts football team.
He is survived by his daughters, Victoria Williams of Elkton, Vermetta Brown of North East; one sister in law, Gloria White; his godson, Jeffrey Hughes; nephew, Benjamin Tiller III (Elise) of Elkton; niece, Viola Gibbs of Brownsville, N.J.; six grandchildren, Tiffany Brown, Mark Williams, Shawn Williams (Lori), Keith Williams (Shenette), Kevin Williams, and Tina Hayes; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and extended family, Akbar Muhammad, Butch Trainer and all his family, Lonzo and Jhonita Ervin and kids, Pastor Jordan Robinson (Keona) and kids; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Eloise (Fitts) Tiller; daughter: Vanessa Hayes, son, Gregory Fitts, four sisters, Lelia, Grace, Mary, Virgie and three brothers, Benjamin, Bloomfield and Arthur. Services will be held Saturday, November 14, at 10 a.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, where the family will receive guests Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. and again on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow services in Bohemia Manor Cemetery, Chesapeake City. Comments are closed.
