Katherine Hedrick “Kate” Coudon-Murphy of Perryville died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 in the Calvert Manor Healthcare Center. She was 92. She was born in her home in Jacksonville, Fla., on January 28, 1922, the daughter of the late Fredrick Cleveland Hedrick and the late Edith Rebecca (Warrington) Hedrick. She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, class of 1939. After high school she attended Florida State College for Women, Tallahassee, Fla. There, Katherine was a member of the Debutant Court of Jacksonville, 1941. She was a member of St. Mary Anne’s Episcopal Church, North East. She served on Altar Guild and wrote for the church’s newsletter; was Vice President of the 6th, 7th, 9th Districts of the Union Hospital Auxiliary; and a member of the Cecil County Historical Society, Friends of the Library, Friends of Rogers Tavern, and the Children’s Home Foundation of the Eastern Shore Maryland.
She is survived by three sons, Dr. Wilson L. Coudon III of Fort Washington, George P.W. Coudon of Rising Sun, and Timothy M.C. Coudon of Perryville; her grandchildren: Ryan, Leigh, Elizabeth, Lauren, Joseph VIII and Sarah; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her late husbands, Joseph Coudon VI, M.D and Rev. George H. Murphy; and her son, Joseph Coudon VII. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Anne's Episcopal Church, 315 South Main Street, North East. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
